Do you believe in heaven and hell?

My mom just called me to tell me that my favorite uncle was just killed while cutting down trees behind his house in rural pennsylvania. The guy went to church every sunday, did everything by the lords book, they lived that stuff down to the letter. Do you really believe that you go somewhere after you expire from earth? I have my doubts, but millions subscribe to the ideology that when you pass there is this amazing place you go to, or for some a place not so nice. I have always been of the belief that religion was invented by man to twart anarchy when intelligence levels in humans began to rise out of what was cro-magnon man. I still believe in a higher power spiritually, but I am not sure of the whole heaven and hell thing. Otherwise, would that mean that people of other religions that do not believe in a heaven per sea would not go anywhere?

Is there really a heaven and hell?

Sorry about your loss bro. I personally no longer believe in any of those superstitions. I did most of my life but as I get older I see nothing but what I consider superstious beliefs of primitive culture. Just my thoughts. I guess nobody really knows for sure...unless you're already dead and you are in the "afterlife". Of course if there isn't an afterlife, then nobody can know for sure. Just me two cents. Nothing more.

I have had a lot of people close to me pass away in the short time i've been alive.

So I feel for you!

But I don't believe their is a Heaven or Hell.

and I don't believe that our mind and our memories and fears and feelings could live on without our brain.

So even if their was a heaven or hell what would it matter.

Now.. With the way I live.. I sure hope their is no heaven or hell heh...

as with all other imaginary realms (shangrila, utopia, middle-earth) they only exist in one's mind:

- if you are truly content (no! not pics, vids etc) you are in heaven.
- if you're loosing the battle of your internal demons (vices, you're a hypocrite, jealous etc) than you are in hell.

You all know this since you all know you can be in either place while you are still alive.

After death you are merely food for worms. That is unless you are smart enough to have your useless carcass incinerated (after you've died).

I always believed fence-sitters to be chicken shits that are too afraid of committing &/or looking like fools by stating what they believe.

Regardless of your view on religion, blaming 'God' for life's mishaps or accidents etc is ludirous. I don't believe in GOD, neither do I believe in hell or satan or heaven.

I believe there must be some sort of afterlife and the other thing i'm pretty sure about is that when the time comes, you shall not feel frightened, death it's just another part of life, the end of it as such if you like but another part nevertheless.
