A better question would be "How much money has the industry lost by using them?"
Just thinking broader about the way we killed the Golden Goose by fucking the man who really counts. The members and surfers. Tubes are just one more in a long line, but at least the surfers like them. |

these days I don't think people mind them near as much as they did when they first come out
it is the crazy uncontrollable popups people don't like these days even I can handle, and am used to, occasional popups as for PM's post above, I get, and have gotten, more popups on mainstream sites in all my days than porn ever did i can go to google right now, and in the results 9/10 mainstream sites will have popups, where as maybe 2/10 porn sites do surfers relate pop ups to all of the web these days, not just porn sites |

I don't think the excuse should by, "they do it and so can we" works.
Look at the site who don't do it and look where your traffic goes. I have never ever been to a mainstream site that poped up so many I hade to close my browsers, maybe they do exist just not found any. 1 pop up to suggest something else is fine. Some sites in this business just went over the top. How much do surfers mind? They use pop up blockers that we write scripts to get around. |
