movie is good but the book is much much much better
his parents are not such a complete assholes in the book as much as they are represented to be in the movie and they missed a lot of good points in the movie (the ones that are quite relevant for explaining why he went away, as well as some other things he did) the book is not that long and its really easy to read ..........so i would recommend the book over the movie

I hated this movie although the very last shot was chilling.
Director Sean Penn made the guy look like a selfish, self-absorbed, stubborn jerk. And Hal Holbrook struck me as a pervert trying to pick him up at a gas station. |
