I don't think it is an age issue. Most of us were young when we got started in this business. I don't think it's a "newbie" issue. We were all new once and this industry does need a flow of new ideas and people. I don't even think it is so much a "maturity" issue. Many of the successful people in this biz lack maturity in some sense of the word. (And that keeps it fun at times)
I think the problem this board has is the number of people here who aren't even in the industry and/or they don't take it seriously and treat it as a business.Comment

Of course, I agree with Wizzo, BUT...
the problem is that despite what people say, *almost everyone* does at least check out GFY once or twice a day - so it remains the best place to find someone or something quickly.......AND it also remains the place where the contest whores and sig whores and kiddies are alllowed (or encouraged) to come and play.
It's very tough to serve two masters, no matter how many people try to change things....especially if page views are the name of the game.

Seems to me management as lost interest in posting and doing cool stuff with their board. Kind of like it's big enough, we get the traffic and advertisers so why bother.
For GFY to be cool like it was back in the day would require a major clean up. Eliminate sig whores trolls, eliminate idiots that are just here to argue and piss off people and also eliminate the gazillions contest.
How about GFY makes a contest once in a while to give back to the community that as been making the posts and getting the traffic so they can bank on advertisers.

In all seriousness, I've been running sites since 1995 and firmly agree that old school is the best school. However, there is always room for improvement and growth both in the old and new alike.
