Merchant Account?????

With all the bullshit 3rd party fees I'm looking to set up a merchant account. Any recommendations on where I can get set up with a merchant account that doesnt have a lot of extra restrictions and fees for adult web sites?

Charlie

netbilling is not a merchant bank, but they could probably help you find one

Hey Amp - I checked out Charge.com and they look pretty good. I'm a little concerned about their disclaimer (*Very high risk companies may require higher points and different fees.) at the bottom of their price comparison page. Did they jack the prices up on you just because you run and adult biz?

no, I actually contacted them regarding something else, (not adult paysites) so it shouldn't be a problem for me..... but I'm still in the early stages of it..... gotta get their paperwork first and then I'll get the real info. BUT.... I got wind of them from someone here.... (sorry, I can't remember who.... I owe you credit though) (no pun intended).... in the midst of all the Visa chaos that was processing adult sites through them with no problems. So, it must not be too big a deal.

i heard that the minimum setup fee for a merchant account is over $1200, if you can even get one to process that code of high risk adult

plus you have to lay down a HUGE deposit or reserve beforehand, in the thousands

at that point if the merchant bank will even consider it, you have to put your personal assets on the line. the bank is not stupid, they need assets to go after in case they get fined 25K for you neglcting your chargeback rate

mitch from netbilling, is this true? i have never seen you mention any prices

it costs 400 bucks to get a high risk account and your reserve is usually set to 7% or so. the ammount of your reserve is determined by your volume. Good thing about that is the money is yours... just not right now. so if you process 50k a month your reserve would be 6-7% of transaction up to 12k, where the reserve sits for 6 months before its released to you.

you can try humboldtbank.com and speak to aaron, I know other have said shitty things about them, but for high risk they are good. Aaron will take your app over the phone and it will take a few weeks to get the account. And in the event that you exceed an acceptable chargeback rate, they will actually contact you and work with you to fix it. You wont just all of a sudden lose your account.

If you breath anywhere near a 1% chargeback rate with Humboldt, they'll revoke you faster than you'll blow your load bangin' a Vivid girl. Humboldt is known to crack when Visa or MC puts the pressure on, just ask the guys at the former WTS (now achdebit.com).

The fact that you have an adult merchant account is why you're going to incur a very high discount rate. Don't try shopping around for a low rate because you're not gonna find one. They all rape us in this industry because they can.

For those of you who think getting a merchant account is SO MUCH cheaper than a 3rd party processor, consider this... Between the bank's discount rate and the processor you opt for's fees, you're looking at 7-9% of your earnings. Now add all of the extra time you're gonna put into your own customer service & additional fraud control, and it equates closely to a 3rd party processor's rate of 11-15%.

Hi Everyone.

I am here to clear it all up.

-------------------------

Eblastics... you are wrong partially.

You are correct in the fact that having a merchant account will cost 7-9% (based on a$25 average ticket). However, that price WILL include our services which include 24/7/365 customer service, fraud scrubbing and all of the tools you receive with a third party processor. There are so many misconceptions in the industry about all of this.

Amputate Your Head,

Let me know what charge.com is charging you. I'm sure we can get you a better discount rate, especially for non-high risk as we write accounts in house and have relationships with a few different banks. You can reach me by phone at: (661)252-2456 x1002.

Keev,

Authorize.net no longer processes adult, has lousy fraud scrubbing, and even worse customer support. Their system is antiquated.
--------------------------

Forget the myths....

Having you own account puts YOU in full control and allows daily payouts and the ability to set your own level of scrubbing, resulting in higher conversions than 3rd party processing which basically scrubs for most sites the same across the board. Now that the 3rd party processors must report individual URLs, chargeback rates, and content to Visa (and soon Mastercard) as well as register each merchant; the umbrellas are now gone, so why pay the high fees anymore?

--------------------------
--------------------------

Humboldt does not write new high risk merchant accounts. They have been acquired by Ipayment Technologies, Inc. and are conservative. They still have all of the previous accounts open and will continue to process, but no new high risk accounts are being established.

If you are selling adult memberships, you will need a merchant account desinated as high risk MCC 2967. This requires you to pay the high risk registration fees og $1500 which will cover Visa & Mastercard.
Netbilling will waive our usual $199 setup if you just mention that "Mitch said you would", so all you pay for is the registration fees.

If you are selling manstream of non-membership adult tangible products, there is no regoistration and the app fee to the bak os only $45. We typically get SAME DAY APPROVALS on all non high risk accounts but the High risk accounts typically take 2-3 weeks for approval by Visa and Mastercard.
Once we receive the merchant account #, we can have you setup with Netbilling the same day.

We can slo refer you for offshore processing whcih will allow a 2.5% allowable chargeback rate and currently, no registration is required. The bank is in Europe so if you have a European corp. already, the setup is only $500 for high risk. If you need the corp setup, the total setup fee is $1500.
--------------------------------

Does this clear things up?

Feel free to ICQ me tomorrow at: 117496436 or call 888-357-8166 for the sales department or my dorect line at: 66-1252-2456 x1002.

Thank you, Mitch Farber

It does take about 2 weeks for the European bank.

Mitch - So are you saying that TOTAL out-of-pocket to set-up a merchant account selling adult memberships would be $1,500 for VISA/MC registration fees?

Thanks,
Charlie

chupacabra,

When you register with Visa and Mastercard, you refister you main URL. Chargebacks are looked at monthly by the bank and reported as well. However, you can bill many sites under 1 merchant account if you own them.

Charlie,

Correct, the Visa/Mastercard registration fees for a US high risk merchant account are $1500 total.
