Ok so you read this: "new taxes on the largest oil companies" and extrapolate that therefore the oil companies would pass it on to consumers, and THEREfore the Democrats are raising taxes on you and me.

They raise tax on the largest companies in the world, who last year made the largest profits ever in history of the world, and yet it's the democrats fault, hehe. Quite a clear path for some (evidently), kinda insanity to others.

And We know its really 8 percent how?

Oil company made news several weeks ago by making the largest profit of any company, EVER in history. Surely people dont think their profit is capped somehow? lmao.

You know most gasoline stations sell gas a penny BELOW their own cost right? They rely on people coming in to buy a Pepsi or Coffee to make profit. This is common knowledge isn't it? Come on.

When I was a kid I worked at a car wash they had a gas pump. I was shocked how little money gas stations made from actual gas.

Everyone also should know that the recent energy bill that passed a couple of weeks ago once again includes breaks for oil companies, and no increase in tax breaks or incentives for Wind, Solar and Hydro power.

In this age of energy independance talk in politics, they pass a bill that might be passed if oil was the new up and coming energy source! LOL

If you want to get an energy break, you HAVE TO do it yourself as an individual. Maybe your grandchildren will be relying on a smart government (lol), but if you try to, you will just lose the race.

And yeah, gas stations lose money on selling gas. It's just the way to get people in the door essentially from a retail standpoint.

When I was young I once worked for a company Standard station. At that time all new employees were sent to a company school for a week and it was not to learn how to sell gas. It was to learn techniques to sell accessories or back room service. At that time all station employees had a sales quota to meet and the quotas varied dependant upon the location of the station. Our titles were that of various rankings of salesman...like salesman 3rd class...2nd class etc. until one reaches assistant manager or manager. My particular station had a quota of $50 per employee per day...which was actually easy to meet because it was a very busy station. The station had 14 employees and was open 24/7. At that time I think the profit off of the sale of gas was 3 to 6 cents per gallon. In other words a profit of 30-60 cents per ten gallons of gas which was the average per customer at that time.

Well some news channel did a sit down chat at a gas station/diner the other day and the owner said he and every owner in the area he knows is selling it a penny per gallon below cost. Hell if I know first hand.

I know if I drove more than a mile a week, my entire budget would have to adjust for the cost of gas.

I know that the thrust of the piece was that the truckers are not making money much above their own costs, gas stations aren't making money more than to barely stay open, the people who buy the produce that is trucked are spending more for it, so who is left to be making a profit? The companies that just posted the largest profits in the history of the planet, thats who, lol. Plus they get tax breaks. Kick ass business if you can break into it I guess.
