I'm getting about 10k of traffic a day, and my host is already shutting me down. I need someplace dependable, reasonably priced, and with cpanel, not interested in a dedicated server yet.

Does it have to be cpanel specifically, or a control panel in general.

Its a wordpress blog, i would take a poke at mysql overload, there may be some bad code/loops that fuck it up in your wordpress install.

I've got similar emails/phone calls from hosts saying to remove the php on a site or they would have to shut it down (til i found the errors and reason for problems)

I cant say for sure, but it may be the issue, 10k a day should not be eating 25% of a boxes resources.

The problem is that you are running wordpress and unfortunately its just not a great piece of code when it comes to scaling to alot of traffic. Alot of virtualized hosts will penalize you in the same way for using too many resources, or restrict you to the point that your site will have problems to grow.

In the past we have offered wordpress customers unique solutions where we give them a reduced rate on a dedicated server for three months while they get their traffic up to see if they can expand the site to the point where it makes sense for them to keep a dedicated server.
