I have been sending a little traffic to this sponsors for several months, surprisingly, the first pay period it converted very well with my traffic, so I kept pushing it. I only had sales for two pay periods. After about a year after, I started to wonder what happened since I never got anymore sales. So I decided to read very thoroughly their TOS and I found this:

11.1 Right to Refuse Referrals. Company reserves the absolute right to deny any prospective Referral and any person or entity participation in the Program. Company shall not be required to provide any reason or justification for denial of processing of a Referral or denial of participation in the Program to any person or entity.


Then I read this:


(Note: If You wish to perform a test signup, You must first email the Company at [email protected] to arrange such a test)

Wait a minute! do they stop shaving if I tell them I am going to sign up myself as a test??? this made no sense so i got a couple fo friends to sign up, they gave me their credit cards transaction IDs, and these two sales never showed up in my stats...

What do you think? I wonder how much $ these people stole from me???

They most likely are doing bad biz if thats a rule for their proggie.

Please do not do a test sign up to catch us cheating your traffic or we will terminate your account which we were cheating anyways. I would drop any sponser with that crooked shit going on.

It could be a simple reason - it often is.

I know some progs manually check sign ups before they are credited for instance.

I was thinking more about timing than them flagging your friends transactions.

Of course they could just be shaving - but its good to ask...

There's actually a very good reason for this rule; It's to protect the sponsor against webmaster fraud. If you do a few "test signups" then cancel and conveniently forget to tell them about it afterward, the company could end up paying you unearned commissions. People used to scam sponsors this way a lot; it's part of the reason free trials are disappearing.

Besides, there are other reasons to do a test signup than suspicion of shaving, just as there are other reasons you might fail to be credited for signups... An error in your refcode for instance.

Of course that makes sense as a reason to put something so stupid in the terms. But if you suspect someone of not paying you, alerting them to the fact that you're about to test kind of negates the whole idea of the test in the first place.

And if they are manually reviewing signups as someone else suggested, shouldn't the sponsor follow the same ethical rule and inform the affiliate that first, they are doing this, and second tell the webmaster there may be a problem with their traffic rather than just dropping signups from their stats without a word?

you can do a test signup anytime on our sites. Have your mom do it from a different state and I even refund the transaction to you as well while you enjoy your free membership. As long as you are sending new members feel free to do a test sign up every month if you want. I have always offered this.

Really? it doesnt make sense? Do you run a program?

Here are two reasons off the top of my head why a program would request this

a) they don't want to pay you for a test signup
b) if you do a 'test' signup and don't tell the program it is possible that the processor and / or the risk management depart could flag the transaction as fraud and shut down your account.

So, the clause is there to protect both the company AND the webmaster from any misunderstandings.

Starting to make a little more sense?
