We protect israel because we do not want them to engage in a war with any arab country. If Iraq bombs Israel (which they have done in the past) and Israel retaliates, most arab countries including Jordan would Enter the war AGAINST the US. The we would not only be fighting saadam, but most of the arab world.... a scary thought

I don't view it as being scary at all. The Arab world does not know how to fight and have repeatedly proved it. A country of a few million people (Israel) has repeatedly put them to shame. We fought a 100 hour land war with the fourth largest military on the earth. The biggest battle of that war was trying to stop them from kissing the troops. Hell if we armed our High School ROTC units they would kick their ass.
