My three favorite moments of the Oscars
1. Jon Stewart's comment on the return of the writers --- “You’re here — I can’t believe it, you’re actually here!” he joked as the show opened. “The fight is over, so tonight,” he added, “welcome to the makeup sex.”
2. Stewart's "Gaydolf Titler" analogy in parody of Barrack Hussein Obama's "unfortunate" name. 3. When it was over. Seriously, other than a few Jon Stewart comments it wasn't all that riveting. Feelgood moment of the night -- When he brought that chick (Ms. Irglova) back out after a commercial break when she had been denied the chance to give an acceptance speech.

That bit where the girl in the Best Song Category was asked to go back and finish her speech was a good one.
Were you able to catch that incident during the Red Carpet when Gary Busey (who seemed either drunk or stoned) was trying to accost Ryan Seacrest? He hugged Laura Linney and unceremoniously kissed Jennifer Garner on the neck. They don't know what Busey was up to. |

What's up with the Coen brothers? Are they strange or what?
I guess it takes a bit of weirdness to put together such good films. ![]()

Yeah, when their names were called, they act like they didn't want to receive the award. They almost appeared smug. Either they're good at masking their joy or are just spoiled sports. But I'm glad the winners aren't all Americans for a change.

I loved the Coen Borthers and was wondering how their speech would have went had Roderick Jaynes had won for best editing ;-)
My favorite moment was the mentioned John Stewart bringing out the girl to finish her speech moment, but I also loved Marion Cotillard's speech. She was so excited because everyone was pretty much expecting Julie Christy to walk away with the award....and just watching her excitement was great. It felt really genuine. I actually enjoyed this year's oscars...no overly bloated musical number of stupid skits, just John Stewart being funny and I think i enjoyed the montages more than the usual stupid banter they usually cram into these shows...maybe the writers should strike more often ;-)

Well I tuned in about 90 minutes into it, so I got to skip over all commercials, musical numbers, and speeches from unknowns. hehe...
Jon Stewart did a great job. He didn't need to go over the top for it to be good, but I'd still like to see David Letterman host the Oscars again sometime.

I loved Marion Cotillard's speech. She was so happy and she's soooo pretty. I have a huge girl crush on her.
I also liked Javier Bardem when he thanked his mother in Spanish. I thought that was really sweet. |

When is the last year that none of the acting awards went to Americans? It was a good year for international productions.

She was pretty but she gave the exact same speech with the same emotions in the same places when she won the Bafta (British Oscar) the week before. I am sure she was excited but maybe needed something in English that she could keep in her mind for each time she won.

Truthfully I watched mainly to see how Jon Stewart would do. He's the same age as me and I just identify with his brand of comedy like no others. Btw, what was up with that slippery spot near the podium? It was like there was water on the floor, or pee or something. Colin Farrel slid across it on purpose and comment "someome might want to fix that", and one of the other actors slipped a little at that same spot... anyone else notice? I was waiting for someone to do a header.

Probably one of the most boring Oscars ever. Interesting how once again how a majority of the awards went to non-Americans.
I like Jon Stewart but he's just not that funny. I miss Billy Crystal and Ellen.. they were the best hosts. My fave moment was as well when Stewart brought that woman out to finish the speech.

My fiancee and I were pulling for them to win, so it was rather disappointing to see the orchestra cut her off like they did... I could see the "oh... for fuck sakes - we suck" look in Jon Stewart's eyes as they went to commercial. Was great to see them come back after the break and see them bring her back out... definitely a class move.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Daniel Day Lewis speech which was good.

I TiVo'd it and watched about 20 minutes total. The montages were getting old. I am VERY glad the actress from La Vie En Rose won. While the movie skipped around too much for me, she was absolutely incredible especially when you compare her to pictures of the actual singer.

The montages showed they were prepared to go on even with the writers strike since they were obvious padding. At least they made fun of it too in the middle with the tribute to binoculars and waking up suddenly.

Well deserved for Javier Bardem... and I just loved the second Fellini appears in the flashback montage.

I don't think I've ever sat down and watched the Oscars. When reading about it afterwards, I always get a bit of that "oh darn, I missed some funny stuff"... but there is just so much boring stuff between the funny parts, it isn't worth it.

It was good to see the Canadian girl from 'Juno' get nominated (although she didn't win). I recall seeing her in another flick (think it was called Hard Candy) and I remember thinking she's an excellent upcoming talent.

Busey's been a little off his nut for many years now, no secret there, but it looks to me like all the guy did was kiss a couple of hotties. It's not like he felt them up or anything. (now THAT would have been news-worthy)
