New Google Trends shows only Google traffic?

    Hi All,

This appears quite interesting, go to Google's newest toy, their Trends:

    http://www.google.com/trends

type in your favorite url and see what comes up.

It appears to me that this shows how much traffic a site is getting strictly from google.

Hence, if you compare this with alexa, (remember a site can be shooting up at alexa based on a traffic swapping scheme, or some type of round robin scheme among a bunch of their own sites, or a network of sites) the results can be quite eye opening.

Obviously, if this is correct, it will help folks with their SEO efforts tremendously.

Of course, if you are trying to determine where to submit your sites, or where to trade traffic with, and are looking to get quality traffic, this will help you as well.

I'm curious to know what everyone else sees with this. Am I reading it correctly?

This isn't accurate, and you shouldn't use it to compare as to where to send traffic.

Type in gfy or gofuckyourself and just look at the results. Most of the sites I typed in have no results.

This is best used for search terms like "bigtits"

Spacedog, this is new. Please read the article here to verify:

SCORE-Cash, I've looked at a number of sites and spoken with other webmasters to confirm what this shows, based on their traffic from google, and this tool appears to be very accurate. If you type in "gfy" it shows how often that term is searched for at google. If you type in gfy.com it shows how much traffic that site gets from google. How this can be useful from an SEO viewpoint; I was following the progress of a site that I thought was making some interesting changes (mostly by watching his alexa report). Alexa shows this site trending waaaay up. Googletrends, however, shows that this site is barely on the map with google. From a submitters viewpoint, most folks know that targeted search engine traffic is worth a lot more than traded traffic. Targeted Google traffic closes somewhere around one every few hundred, tgp/traded traffic closes one in many thousands. A submitter knowing that a certain site gets Google traffic vs traded traffic...well that's gotta be useful to the submitter that only has a certain number of hours a day to work and can't submit to every site out there.

              wrong.... look here:
              CNN.com and CNN

If the keyword is getting 8 times the searches as the .com is getting traffic your shit is completely flawed crap. CNN.com should be 8 times the keyword searches since it is also getting traffic from other searches like news items.

V_Rocks, I think that you have it backwards. Every time CNN.com is searched for, CNN gets a vote (or a count, or a notch, or whatever), however every time CNN is searched for CNN.com does not get a vote. Obviously, this is because CNN is part of the phrase CNN.com but not vice versa. Hence, CNN should be higher on the Google Trends graph than CNN.com.

                Does that make sense?
