How many people have joined the $750 charging processor exodus?

At a guess how many people do you reckon have already jumped ship and moved over to either globill, verotel etc....

From the sound of things around here, and elsewhere, a lot of people are just planning to jump ship. In many cases, there is no good reason not to. I think the Big Three will really change their positions in the market thanks to this. It can't be good for them. Especially the loss of goodwill.

Heh. Looks like this thread got a little de-railed... Let's not forget about the lovely treatment we're getting from the billers, and all the customers they are losing. It's all fun and games until someone loses a hand...

Paycom/Epoch is behind in payments to webmasters for the third or fourth time in the past 2 years. They are losing new banking relationships every day. They have been shut down by Lloyds of London and more recently Amtrade Bank to name a few.

The company is being run by an egomaniac that is raping his own company and heading them down the path of disaster at the expense of the webmasters. Every webmaster on board with Paycom/Epoch is about to go down shortly. I advise these people to get their databases and get out. Time is growing short.

Epoch? Ego? Cmon now. They are the most down to earth peole I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

I'm fairly positive over 2000 accounts already have or will be transferred pretty soon. My site isn't up yet, but I don't think we'll be using any of the Big 3. Probably Netbilling instead.

Oh, I just got my new Discover card in the mail yesterday. Of course I'll still need to rely on Visa at times, but Discover is now my card of choice.

A few months ago in the UK a report was leaked to the press regarding one of the biggest banks over here "The Halifax" it outlines what types of business they wanted...cash businesses and small busines were highlighted in the avoid section...maybe the big 3 want big clients only and this is a perfect situation for them...

Serge I am just trying to stir up shit...hehehe....Personally I use Ibill, CCbill, Epoch and now Electra Cash as another check processor and I really do not give a fuck about this $750....but I am trying to understand the logic behind the big 3 not joining Globill or Verotel's stance, hence this post :

This whole Visa mess is just one more reason for me to thank Lightspeed. I'm so glad I'm not out there on my own anymore. They've been so awesome to work with and now not having to deal with this Visa thing is just one more benefit of our partnership.

But I do feel for those small sites out there and I'm pretty sure if I was still one of them I would be looking to Globill as a billing option. I've used them in the past and they seem very solid. I'm sure tons of sites are making the switch, the only problem I see are what to do with your old re-billing members. I know Globill has a way you can ease the transition but it's not seamless and I'm sure you'd lose some along the way.

that is the thing that most people have actually not researched and looked at enough..the rebilling...what about all those affiliates of ours who you cant take over with you? The thing is it will balance itself out...the sites will not have to pay affiliates for a few months hence actually maybe making out of it...

I see your point about the affiliate thing, luckily for me most of my old re-billing members are my own, so (for the most part) there are no affiliates involved. And all of my old affiliates have switched to Lightspeed anyway. But I can see how that could be a major problem for people.

But I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "sites won't have to pay out affiliates for a few months".... I guess you mean if people switch over from one of the old processors, not pay the $750, lose their rebills (or try to transfer them) and move on to another processor, like Globill. So not only are you losing your rebills, you're losing your affiliates as well. That sucks.

Nina, bascially the sites will have to get their affiliates back over witht them...the affiliates will lose the rebill etc...however some new processors (well new ones that people are switching to) can bring the rebills over (in a weird sort of way the client has to sign up again) so basically the site then has the customer and does not have to share revenue with anyone...

But they will be losing way more than gaining if they have to notify all their members and try to get them to switch processors.

Yes and no.

Members who really love the site will rejoin. But there are many members who forgot they even joined in the first place, you don't really want to remind them to quit. This is not really the nicest thing to say but if someone is not responsible enough to quit it's their problem.

And many people are nervous about using their cards online, now you have to contact them and get them to re-enter their cc info and they will now be charged by a new billing company. They also might not understand that this has nothing to do with you or your company, they may think there's some kind of problem on your end with your old billing company.

So overall having to switch and gaining a few members back at 100% isn't going to really benefit anyone. And you're also going to lose a certain percentage of your affiliates.

My view is let them quit...they will then trust you and once you have built up trust they will come back and pop in now and again...pr they will just chargeback and you pay in the end

I just had a thought... I wonder if we will ever hear an answer to this poll's question? I mean, the billers probably already know how many they have lost... and can guess how many more.
