Absolutely we do. We will have a utility next week to help switch over your

Did you tell them that you don't have your own merchant account? That you were using 3rd party billing?

somehow i fear that this 'utility' is only a script which email's your current customers nicely asking them to cancel their accounts and then sign-up again over at the new processor when the time comes... i'd love for this not to be the case, as if it weren't for our rebills we wouldn't even be here worrying about this entire affair..

No, cause if they keep them, it forces people to stay with them. If they suddenly start switching all the rebills over, it makes it real easy to leave.

Of course i told them.

I'm as reluctant to believe that as you are, but the solely announce is sending shockwaves to the 3 stooges, if this can be done, they face extinction real fast.

Very Nice Mr. VEROTEL,

But it would be even nicer if you would be able to convert our rebill database from IBILL or WSB directly to DiBill billing as they are the best one currently

What gives the Big 3 the right to not release your rebills to another processor? Those are YOUR customers. If you demanded that they be transferred to another processor I would think they would have to comply. I'm not a lawyer, but I would think that holding YOUR customers hostage so you can't move to another processor would be illegal.

You read my mind, i think is some kind of email stuff. But we most wait an see.

Anyway, the initiative is a sign that at least someone it trying to addressing the problem, with this, some other company will try to find a better solution.

DAMN IT!, we are a community, let's exercise our collective power!, let's force them do what we need!

i think verotel is simply talking about an email utility and opt-in page. 2000charge and globill also have that.

But whatever it is, it's good to see that webmasters at least have options and don't completely have to kiss their rebills goodbye.

Besides, if your users *really* lke your site, there is no reason why they would not opt-in to be rebilled with a new processor. On ther other hand, if your users don't really like your site and you make it hard for them to cancel rebilling (naughty boy!) then you should be very worried about losing rebills.

In other words, honest webmasters with good sites don't really have a lot to worry about. Their users should stick with them in a move to a new biller.

Now how many of us are honest webmasters with good sites?

You cant transfer rebills from a 3rd party

THey are being charged by IBILL lets say
thats what shows up on their statement
And thats what MUST show on their statements

So its just not possible to do it
unless you email all customers and basically tell them to resignup

Manga1,

Those customers do not belong to you. They belong to whomever holds the data and the merchant account. Can you view and download your entire database? I doubt it.

Only if you have your own merchant account, do the customers belong to you. This has always been the case with 3rd party... no control. Are you ready to take control? We can help.

Thank you, Mitch Farber

I believe Steve is entirely correct. But again, this should not be a problem if some of these other billers have auto-emails to notify all your users. As long as your site is good and your membership audience faithful, then I think most users WOULD sign-up with your new biller to continue their memberships.

It's the fly-by-night webmasters with shitty sites that have the most to worry about as most of their rebills WILL drop out.

Just my

Thank you, Mitch Farber

I agree with ozzy,

But even in the case of an email solution, you have nothing to worry about if you have a good product, i have more than 1200 customers that are with me since 1997!

But even in the case of an email solution, some help will not hurt because switching over is not going to be piece of cake.

A few facts about Verotel you may want to know before you signup..

The good - They don't ask for any tax ID/SS # when you signup.

The Bad - Their affiliate program only allows up to 50% payout.

Mitch is right.
The rebills are NOT yours, you are merely using the merchant account of your third party processor..

Sad but true....

Isn?t VEROTEL the company that sends a nice email remainder to the client every month that they are going to rebill his credit card and if he would like to cancel he can do so now before they will rebill him??

ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED?

people like you and the shit you are selling is one of the bigger reasons for all the problems we have. Visa and Mastercard are trying like hell to distance themselves from idiots like you.

Seems to me from the above message, that even if one does not legally own the customers and the rebills that go along with them that you may still be able to convince a 3 party billing co to release the necessary database info. Seems to happen regularly. How much arm twisting would that require Mitch?

Sounds a bit similar to the situation involving US cell phone companies who are fighting with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to stall for more time until they have to release cell phone numbers to customers who choose to switch companies for whatever reason. BTW FCC has held off on the order till sometime in the near future. I think its next year. That should REALLY cause some heavy competition!!
