How do you "defeat" terrorism?

I was on a ultra conservative forum I lurk at and was reading some of the posts by members rationalising why they are going to vote for John McCain, even though they hate him. One of them said, "He will pursue the War on Terror to a victory over Islamofascist terrorism."

I'm just wondering... how do you "defeat" terrorism... and if he does becomes POTUS what could McCain do in his term that Bush hasn't already done that would bring about a "Victory"?

Sounds like more trillions of dollars down the shitter and creating a new generation of terrorists to me.

America and Israel are the causes of terrrorism so they can either get heir fucking act together or face the consequences as they are doing right now in iraq. Don't get me wrong i support the troops but they should not be sent to foreign countries like it's a video game.

For example - If gays went on a bombing spree and got everything they wanted there would be 100 religious groups planting bombs because they dont want it.

The only way it is possible is to take the weapons away from them, but that would put us back in the dark ages.

The only known antidotes are democracy and a strong defense policy, exactly what GWB and the Republicans have been trying to do. By my estimate they are on track, and their solutions are working. It will take a long time for it to work, decades. It is amazing how short sighted our society is today.

It took 50 years to defeat the Nazi (and then Soviet) fascists in Eastern Europe. The global jihad is even more dangerous because of its worldwide base, funding via narcotics/ oil /and "charity" groups, and because of advances in WMD technology. If you don't believe me, wait for the next attack.

Their culture/religion was as different to ours as the muslim culture/religion is to ours. No quarter given...in the form of unconditional surrender...overwhelming crushing force...changed their mindset and they ultimately meekly surrendered. Force does work.

One country at a time...and time itself...multiple generations of time. Iraq was mishandled due to Rumsfeld primarily...but also due to others. If the Powell doctrine of engaging our troops would have been used many of the problems that took place in the early stages of the conflict in Iraq would not have happened or at the least would have been greatly diminished and Iraq would in all probability be reasonably stable at this point...but from the beginning the Admin knew or should have known that we would have a military presence in Iraq for generations to come just as we still have a military presence in Germany and Japan and many other countries around the world.

What the hell is an Islamofascist? Seems just like a new buzz word that some will use to categorize/demonize an identifiable group so I looked it up:
