Clone your dog .......

Clones aren't quite clones if there are subtle differences in their genetic make-up which I think still happens when they try to clone animals. Plants, fine. Animals? Meh.... Something seems to still go wrong in the regulatory process that controls whether certain genes are switched on or off in the cells used for cloning, causing clone pregnancies to fail, or result in offspring being delivered stillborn or deformed.

But still - Cloning is coming. And soon everyone will be able to afford to clone their pet kitty or doggy.

And just because cloning is banned in the US (fucking idiots) doesn't mean that human cloning won't be done elsewhere in the world. Need a new lung? Doctors in India will clone you, grow a copy of your body and then store it for whenever you may need a spare part later. In 25 years? Full body transplants! Your head on a sexy new young body! In 30 years, your brain in a sexy new head on a sexy new body. Yay, Technology.

I had a Golden Retriever once that was perfect to me in every way and I don't think he could ever be surpassed by another dog. Maybe equaled at best.

If cloning was an everyday thing with no problems, I would clone him for sure.

In the case of my dogs since they are rescues and not puppies.It would look like my dog but wouldnt be the same. I think a pets personality is shaped by its surroundings.

Yeah, it would be completely for the benefit of the owner, not the dog.

I think I would rather just get a new dog.

i saved my dog and cat from the streets of bucharest... if they died, i would prefer to save two more animals...

if you have never been to bucharest, trust me, there are a million of dogs and cats here that need a home

I might consider doing it once, just to you know, add another 60 years to my life.

But then doing it again after that?

I don't know about the immortality thing. After living that long death could very likely be welcome :D
