Have you sold a domain on ebay?

im thinking of selling a domain name and a website on ebay

1 site would have a buy it now for over 10k$ and the other would be a bid with a reserve..

if no one buys, is there a fee?

any feedback from you guys who have sold on ebay?

Yes, there are fees for "buy it now" and reserve prices sales.

If you have a high reserve then you will pay out the ass if it doesn't sell.

The reserve fee is refunded when you sell....I believe.
That's the way it used to be so I don't think it changed.

I have had good offers for domains on ebay, but I always wanted more; but that was because I had "invested" in the domain and wasn't just a domain seller.

As a plain "domain seller" I would have made good returns on ebay.

Yes, I have sold on eBay.

eBay is OK as an auction platform, but it is not much of a marketing vehicle. If you sell enough items, you will sell some at a loss.

eBay fees are outrageous, and I hear fraud is a problem. To combat fraud, use escrow at Moniker. They have the best escrow service I have used.

Yeah and Ebay just raised their fees for final auction fees. It's always comical when they adjust their rates because they come up front and lower all of their listing fees and this and that by like 3-5 cents, then what they do is jack up the % they take from the final auction fee, which is actually taking more out of your pocket in the end.

I've noticed that you've sold a few on Ebay, do you feel like you at least get close to what you are expecting in final sale price when the auctions are over? I'm tempted to try ebay for domains, but wondered if its just best to use places like Sedo to try and move domains.

I had mainly good experiences with ebay. The majority of the buyers appears honest. Of course you can always catch a black sheep. Just do not send the goods / do not give them access to the domain until you are sure the money is safe in your hands.

Never sold a domain name on ebay though. maybe afternic is better for that !?

That one looks like its going really good!

Great sell for a two word domain.
I'm sure the price will go up near the end also.

Congrats.

Overall eBay is only OK. Frankly, there is no great place to auction a domain.

What I do like at eBay is its user-friendliness and that since you have your own page you can do some promotion of your particular auction item on your own. What I don't like is the high fees, and the fact that sometimes things don't fetch much money.

Moniker auctions tend to get top dollar, but they are exclusive, mainly for premium domains.
