Bandwidth prices have fallen over the last few years a great deal. Could be the company you work for is locked into a contract at a higher rate. The price spread on a 1 Gbps connection is large depending on the provider so no real need to post it.

Feel free to contact me in person and I will be happy to give you quotes for any provider I have access to.

Good Luck

Dan

50 bucks a meg? damn I haven't sold it for that in years. The price does depend on what the bandwidth is. Is it a mix, is it redundant, what kind of service does it come with? all of those things factor in heavily. If you like I can quote you on a gig, I assure you this, no matter what it will be way lower than 50 bucks a meg.

$50/meg is not the best price even for with as gig, but NZ bandwidth is not american bandwidth. If that price is in the US, then yes that is a rip off for any provider.

It's hard to say why your company is being charged what it is with the many variables that exist. If you would like to find out about our network and see how we can do business together, please feel free to ICQ me at 147479144 and we can go over your company's needs.

Hi,

We have some great 1 Gbps options. We host several of the top adult networks, I would love to discuss the options with you. I can't necessarily post the prices here however. We are currently pushing around 60- 70 Gbps. Can you contact me privately?

ICQ: 412203056 or email: [email protected]

Thank you,

you guys sure about these prices ? Maybe they are not valid for Canada though.

I am with Peer1 for mainstream stuff and I pay 250$ per mbps - under 10mbps usage. I wanted to switch over to Verizon ( old UUnet/MCI/Worldcom ) but prices are in the same range.

Paying 50$ would be a sweet deal indeed! I'm colo though ( full cab ), not sure if it matters.

50k for 1Gbps straight? or are there any other options perks included? management, hardware etc? there can be other factors that raise prices.

It really does vary. If it were a straight bandwidth purchase the range would be likely be in the teens. Oversimplifying the whole solution to 'whats the price for 1 gigabit' isn't anywhere near accurate. GFY has this way of overly dumbing things down - the true cost of hosting is only partially the bandwidth. Even getting to a true cost on bandwidth only has to take into consideration other factors such as network infrastructure and support costs, cross connects, term agreements with carriers, etc. Even if a host buys at XX.XX per megabit the true cost to just give someone an uplink could easily be (and most likely is) 10-20% higher. Hosts have real employees managing their edge routers, real lawyers doing their purchase agreements, hundreds of thousands and more in network equipment making everything work..... And at the end of the day if the variable cost is the straight cost of additional bandwidth, the fixed cost is all of the other overhead...... Stuff has to get marked up so that companies have a real contribution to their bottom line so that they can grow their business, reinvest and enjoy healthy profit.

My guess would be that there are a dozen or two servers of various specs, and a full suite of management by the host. If you would like a thoughtful analysis of your current physical and cost infrastructure along with a competitive quote for service I would be happy to do that for you.

Cheers,

Brad Mitchell
