Wow... One of Bush's lies about the Iraq war.. How did I miss this one...
The lie.... Saddam used chemical weapons on his own people...
The "proof" is the gassing of Kuridsh citizens in Halabja... The facts... it was near the end of the Iran/Iraq war and Iran had seized the town... if in fact Iraq was using gas at that point, it was an attack against the Iranian forces, not the civilians as both sides were gassing each other... Here's the best part.... "United States Defense Intelligence Agency investigated and produced a classified report, which it circulated within the intelligence community on a need-to-know basis. That study asserted that it was Iranian gas that killed the Kurds, not Iraqi gas. The agency did find that each side used gas against the other in the battle around Halabja. The condition of the dead Kurds' bodies, however, indicated they had been killed with a blood agent -- that is, a cyanide-based gas -- which Iran was known to use. The Iraqis, who are thought to have used mustard gas in the battle, are not known to have possessed blood agents at the time." That was from a ex CIA analyist who's job gave him access to the mentioned report.. The CIA suported that analysis during the early 1990s at least... At the very least, one could say it's not clear what happened.. Bush would have known that. |

ya know.. I should probably know better... Back then the CIA etc. would have wanted to paint Iran as evil.. but once it was decided that Iraq needed to be painted as evil they can all change the story.. Can't fucking believe anyone...

Saddam admitted he gave the order to gas the women and children at his trial. His defense was that he was a commander of the armed forces and they became the enemy (meaning civilians).

Even if he did, where in the consitution does it say we are the world protectors and we should wash our economy down the drain because of an atrosity half way around the world? If you think its so imortant take all your money, fly your ass over there and help the people you think we should be wasting our tax money on. We have more than enough problems of our own to worry about that shit. I dont see soldiers busting into Africa to save shit. How about protecting our borders so we are really safe. How about lifting a finger to save OUR OWN CITIZENS who were stranded in NO after Katrina. Save all that blow hard shit for the drones. How about signing up and doing it yourself. How about signing you and your family up for the armed forces and proving your beliefs.
