Pc mouse hurts my hand. Will I get used to it?
For some reason my cordless mouse really hurts my hand. It's logitech and the shape looks just look this :
![]() Before I was using an old school mouse like this ![]() Is it because the new mouse is much "higher" and "taller" than the old one? And I'm not used to the grooves on the sides, the height makes my hand really sore. Is it because my hands are small or does everyone's hands get sore like this? Did your hands get sore the first time you used this shape of a mouse? Also the mouse is so sensitive, when I move it just a little bit it goes everywhere! The main thing though is the soreness. My hands feel weird using mouse #1. Like the mouse is too tall for my hands since I'm using a "low mouse" and smaller one. |

I bought a new comp the other week. I didn't like the mouse that came with it, and although i could have easily bought a new mouse for it, i'm just back to using my old one that i was so used to.
It doesn't quite look right on my desk with the new comp, but who the hell cares, comfort is important... ;-) |

No doubtful you will. Its probably due to the position of your thumb on the side. I have a Mx510 I dont use due to that, but that was when I was a hardcore first person shooter gamer.
![]() Id probably be ok just with daily work with it. I use a razer copperhead right now love it. |

Is mouse #1 better for your hands ergonimically or number 2? #1 is taller and hurts more, #2 feels comfortable

Mouse #2 is one of those cheap ghetto really old mouses, but since it's flat and low it doesn't hurt my hand. The new high tech ones with the grooves on the side hurts my hand. Maybe it's supposed to hurt and I'll get used to it? |

Maybe you need one of those gel things for your wrist to set on - if you get your hand up a little more with some support, it probably won't hurt as bad.

I already have one of those. I think it's the height of the mouse. I wonder if the height of taller mouses bother everyone or if its just me.

You should probably buy one of those squishy-balls or Chinese meditation balls or something to work out your hand between mousing-sessions.
Good idea, overall - whether it hurts or no.

I have a newer logitech that I just can't get used too. It is just a little higher on the thumb area then I'm used too. I love the feel of the MX518 though. This new one is almost just too big.

Cover the microsoft logo with a piece of tape and see if that helps.

Get the old microsoft optic mouse and buy a pad with silicone gel for wrists rest...
It's hard to find the classic old mouses nowadays, every PC shop out there has those stupid Gamers Giant mouses, I hate them... But maybe on ebay you can find someone with old stocks of microsoft optic mouses.. |

I read reviews at amazon for the keyboard/mouse combo i have and i cant believe no else has problems with the shape of the mouse!
Everyone just thinks the mouse is "great" and "Comfortable". I guess its just me. |

no it's not just you, i had a taller mouse and it hurt my wrist after a time, went back to a shorter mouse and now no pain at all. The taller mouse can be used but get a mouse mat with a built in wrist support. But for me i just went back to a vertically shorter mouse.

Why did the normal cordless one suck ass? I like the fact that cordless has no cords...

If it hurts DON'T use it. For years I put up with aches and pains and it's really messed my wrists up. Repetitive strain injury
I invested in one of these: http://www.aerobicmouse.com/ But these days I use 2 mice. One of the above with the buttons disabled for movement. And another ordinary mouse for the button click. |
