Zip or not ZIP
I let my members to download full length movie, file size 700mb-1300mb
Should i Zip the file ? and how big the files should be 300mb each ? |

zip doesn't slim down the filesize of medifiles at all

you should not zip them, not everyone knows or have zip extractors. Why not considering providing both zipped and no-zipped? Its better.

i'm worry about the disconnection of member & the hardisk file crc error
is it a big problem, or very less posibility problem ? should i just go for the big files ? |

People are used to wmv, mpg and avi and a self extractor may still not work on some systems. Bandwidth is way too cheap to care for an additional 100mb+/- and I'd bet that even with selfextracting files you'd have to waste alot of time on additional member support requests.

even it is at least 700MB above and why rapidshare limit the file size to 100mb and allow zip too ? |
