What is the time frame for the chargeback ratio?

What amount of time does Visa use to judge your chargeback %?

Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly?

I assume its based on monthly chargebacks vs. overall sales, but I don't know.

there is none in reality.
you can have a spotless ratio for a year and have one really bad month which brings your ratio .1% too high and they can terminate you.

with the 1% ratio being in effect, you would need to make $30,000 in sales to accomodate $300 in chargebacks.

and what happens if you launch a new paysite and in the first month you only get 40 sales, but 1 of them decides to chargeback? That would be a 2.5% chargeback rate. Do you get put in the TMF bin and all your paysites get shut down?

That would make launching a new paysite very risky. You would need to make sure that you get lots of signups from the very beginning to ensure that you don't get the boot in case one of your sales happens to chargeback.

Whilst I find the Visa stance somewhat annoying.

I really doubt they will can people over one chargeback. If you run sites that are good value for money in todays market place surely you will be ok.

I have not yet seen this layed down as fact by any of the processors OR Visa... so far I've only seen what their new regs are.... and they don't say anything about being good value for the buck or letting you slide cuz you're a good guy to hang with on the weekend.

I asked today about that also

The charge back ratio is on a month to month basis.

So if you have 0% for 3 years and 2 % in one month, your ass is grass. If you have a new site, and 5 signups and one person charges back

bye bye

Shit, that makes it very risky to launch a new site.

I asked this question and someone (from a processor I think) answered that they think the time frame will be every month. They were not 100% sure. Is anyone 100% sure about anything? I'm not sure.
