I was in the Navy and to tell ya the truth, you should go into the coast guard, you go to the same countries and get there faster and stay there longer. No westpacs or circling the Indian Ocean or any of that heavy strict military jazz. The coast guard also has women on board, which is good and bad, but the Navy had men and fags, so you decide......
Coast guard is more liberal in Military protocal and the political bullshit is more lacks.
After being in the Military and meeting so many people from all branches, I would go coastgauard, but if I was Canadian, then it would absolutely be the Navy!
If you are really planning on going in, get your college degree first and then the Navy would be great, officers sure had it made, considering most of the ones I met were dumb assholes who must have majored in basket weaving or some other worthy degree

Depends on you and what you want to do. If you are seriously considering joining up, go talk to all of the military services and the Air Force (:D), see what they have to offer, and take the option that best fits you, your interests, and your goals.
If you are seriously considering a career, get your degree and go officer, as they say, it beats working for a living . If you are looking for training and a profession, enlist, get some good technical training in just about any field you can possibly be interested in, take advantage of every possible educational opportunity you have while you're in, and you can come out with a degree, or at least a couple of years of college, and a jam-packed resume that will blow away someone who has just gone to school on daddy's dime.
