wow, yeah. Almost seems like an intentional step, maybe to relieve the server from traffic overload so they disabled certain areas with a page that made to look like it was hacked :D

None of the servers got hacked this was done via the Domain Registar that allow the dns servers to be moved so if you dont have strong password on your accounts on godaddy register or dotster a script kiddie can sit there brute force and go that route which is the easiest way to take down a site.
