Be very very careful. Make a clone of the drive before you try any of them.

I have used Partition Magic several times and it works well if you are expanding one partition into additional free space to make it larger. BUT...If you are trying to join two partitions into one large partition....I have had this explode on me on two different occasions and then I lost everything on both partitions.

The funny thing is that unless you have a specific reason; like multiple operating systems, multiple partitions on the same drive (spindle) gets you NO performance increase. It just means that you are more likely to run out of room on one partition.

Just make sure you have a backup of Registry and all your data in case.

I have a 500 gig external drive. I was getting indications that it was getting full and did not see how that could be, so I checked properties and saw that the partition only had 75 gig.

I do not know why it is 75 gig. I certainly did not mean to format it to 75 gig. So I would like to make the entire drive one partition.

baddog, I would somehow backup that 75 gigs on something and reformat the whole thing so you have less risk of losing everything...

To be honest I can just reformat and start over again if push came to shove. Although I still need to figure out why it made that partition in the first place.

You can try default disk manager that comes with windows. Right click on my computer > Manage and then go to disk manager. There you can see how big your partition is. You can then play with it. Also make sure to make backup of your stuff just in case something goes wrong (and it does happen very often especially with partitions stuff :D)

In the old days, didn't that used to be some type of clamp device between a woman's anus & vagina? Pardon me if I remember incorrectly.

I went there earlier. did not notice how to change partition size, but wasn't really looking either. Will look again.
