Lakers land Gasol

The Commercial Appeal has learned that the Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.

The decision was made that the Grizzlies could no longer move forward with Gasol on and off the basketball court.

The deal allows the Grizzlies to gain salary cap relief, as Brown is in the final year of a deal that pays $9,075,000.

good pickup. I like the deal for both teams. (Draft pick reasons, not Brown)

Im sure they are more interested in losing the salary and picking up first round picks. Im not an LA fan but that immediatly makes them a contender in the west. Gasol is a stud and if he and Kobe click well, its going to get ugly.

As a Grizz fan I am actually pretty happy with the value of this trade. Get a ton of cap space for this summer, plus the #19 pick in last years draft in Crittenton as well as 2 future first rounders.

Crittenton is a baller. He's got some great moves.. Just too bad we couldn't keep him. This should make the lakers better right away. Finally we got somebody that is not clumsy, and somebody that could actually make a dunk.... Good Job Mitch Kupchak.

Now we just need to figure out what we are going to do for a center while Chris and Andrew are out...

WordPress

Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

I guess even the Lakers have hosting problems.

Uh, that's why they just got Gasol. Rumors are circulating that Bynum may be out much longer than originally anticipated.

He said on TV the other day he still has grapefruit sized swelling. I doubt he comes back in the 8 week time limit. Then you have to account for him having less legs on the court.

The Lake Show finally gets some good news! woooooh! with the lack of "bigs" in the league, Gasol.. believe it or not is a bonafied low post scorer.

The nice thing now is that with Gasol they won't feel compelled to rush Bynum back to secure enough wins to make the playoffs. They certainly lose some low post defense with Gasol in there, but their offensive options are greatly improved and should get Kobe some easier shots. Its certainly a "now" trade as they let go of the rights to Gasol's brother and two future 1st round picks. It seems like they overpaid slightly, but sometimes you have to do that to win now. Heck, just getting someone to take Kwame off your hands has to be a major feat.

HELLLL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great trade for the Lakers. I like Javaris but still you got to pull the trigger on a deal like that. Can't fucking wait until Bynum is back in the line up with these guys.
