Good or bad? Ever tested it to see if Google punishes you for it? baddog says not to do it.

Backdate anything you like, google gives shit about any dates on your blog, they crawl pages, if they find a new one, it's a new page for them, no matter what some post date says. The only disadvantage of backdating is that you post may not appear on some aggregator sites listing posts by date, that's it.

That makes a lot of sense.

Have some blogs which run entirely on back dated posts and all are doing very well thank you.

Why would you back date? And I have done so in the past without a problem.

How about you use some common sense and quit asking people shit like a bitch?

Huh? Asking for general opinions on backdating is "asking people shit like a bitch"? You've lost me. This is a resource board. Not every thread has to be about Britney Spears or the latest celebrity that died.

Also, I want to make a clarification to everyone. I only mentioned baddog's name because I do value what he has to say on SEO. He did NOT tell me that google penalizes. He only suggested that it is probably safer not to do it. It is only an opinion. Not a fact. And I was curious to see what the rest of you thought. I just wanted to clarify that.
