I'm just barely a 1, rather pay somebody to do the job right.

Deej 01-31-2008 04:02 PM

pretty handy but theres more skilled than I ill admit...

I can hold my own until it comes to specialty shit...

Shit requiring proper training...

most anything else is pretty much common sense and in need of investigation...

I grew up working for everything... still do... but i did more than most 7 year olds...

I am not too bad. I use to be a mechanic so am pretty useful around cars, not too bad with general DIY either.

8 outside, 7 inside.

I love fixing/building things. Got it from my dad. As most guys do I guess

No problem - as for staining, do it like I did - cut all of the pieces outside and stain them there, then assemble it inside. An air nailer works best for tacking the panels onto the frame but screws are fine also.

Ya, I had planned to stain outside and bring it in, but the bar is going upstairs and it would be hard to bring it up in one piece if it's in an "L" shape. Then I thought to stain outside and assemble the two pieces upstairs, but I don't want any gaps in the seam where the two pieces meet. Normally I would run a bead of caulk down the seam and then stain the wood, so it all looks like one piece, but them I'm back to staining up on the carpet. Might just have to change my design, or just get some kind of decrative cap I can use to cover the seam up. Not sure yet.

I have my plumbing, gas, and steam fitter tickets. Got into it right away when I was 18. Finished by 23, while doing adult on the side after work for 5 years. Full time with adult now, but at least worst case scenario if my adult stuff dies tomorrow, I still have something to fall back on that makes 6 figures a year. I know a couple plumbers who own their own service trucks and companies, that easily pull 800-1000 dollars a day :pimp

I can. it's not as hard as you might think. Taking the atoms apart and moving them to another place without travelling thru space or time is easy. It's putting it back together... that's the trick.

And thanks on the money song. She knows all the dead presidents now. :)
