looks like you aren't familiar with the current level of democracy in Russia...
what you mentioned and other similar things doesn't rely on single person, its upon nations to establish stable democracies and it happens in ages, a single person cannot do that.
I was admiring Putin because of his personal abilities, intelligence and his success in literally any thing he stepped into, including KGB, business and politics .. unlike Bush, a failed son, a failed student, a failed military pilot, a failed businessman and a failed president.

Democracy in Russia never worked. The only time Russia strived in history was with stone cold leaders. Putin brought it out of shit and back on the world map again.
Just woke up with a headeache so don't want to get into a serious debate, but the thing is that Russia pretends to be a democracy, but chances are that if you were a politician in Russia and tried to establish a serious opposition against Putin, you'd be ass-raped in jail by criminals before you even seriously started.
I'm well aware that Russia has other political-traditions, but at the same time they pretend to be a normal democracy now, but at the same time are really far from it.
Just read some articles on it if you're interested.
And the thing that many people in Russia support Putin doesn't mean shit, when we are talking about how fair and honest that guy is. In Iraq many were genuinely supporting Hussein as well... But is Putin succesfull? No doubt.
Btw it will be interesting to watch Russia after the elections. We all know who will win (Medvedev) but will he stay dependent on Putin all the time? Or will he become independent at some point and Putin will be marginalised? Ah well, only time will tell.....

Putin is the most powerful mafia don in the world. Having dealt with Russians most of my life I can barely imagine how clever he must be to rise to the top of the pile in that vicious game. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.

Seems Polish guys know it better As about democracy - don't be stupid, is an urban legend for ANY country. The government fucks us as it want, when it want and how it want.
the majority of russian webmasters that I have asked about Putin say he is the man... russians don't view their govt like americans do by far.
LOL are you sure those were RUSSIAN webmasters? Go to any big Russian webmaster board (can't give the URL's here - use google instead) and you will see what exactly real Russian webmasters do think about him.
hint: I'm a Russian webmaster. Would you like to ask me before, you will speak of my name?

Man, fuck Russia. Thread was about Putin and I, indeed, was talking about him .. and he is the man. He really is. He can easily make up 0.01% most successful and intelligent men of the world list.

Unfortunately you know nothing about it. And unfortunately all the opposed "political-traditions" are even worse choice than our current government. For example, Kaparov - a real democrat who cares about Russia? NO! Because he's with nationalists like Limonov. Look:
All 3 "opposite leaders" together: Kasyanov, Kasparov and Limonov:
Limonov's gang:
Personally I don't wanna see these nationalists under red flags in white circle (this symbol looks like something very familiar from the past right?) in the government.
I don't give a shit what's happening in Poland right now because I don't care. But please don't try to look like you know something about Russia.
Can you put forward your thoughts about him? I'd love to hear from a Russian.
You can see it in my previous posts. I don't like Putin. I can't say he is as bad as Bush for example because he hasn't started wars and hasn't killed 1000's of foreign civilians. However I never voted for him and will not vote for his follower Mr. Medvedev because I don't like that they do for Russia.
As about the opposition. The most bad thing is that we don't have any good opposition at all. All opposite leaders are nationalists, communists or thieves.
Because of his internal politics. It's too long to explain "way exactly". In shot, I don't like that Russia capitalizes on natural resources only and do almost nothing to invest into the real manufacture, to spend money on those who REALLY needs it (retirees, old ill people, orphans etc) while lots of money are spending for nothing.
On the other hand I do respect him as a person (he is a clever man, has a good physical shape, not an alcoholic like the one before him etc) But it's not enough to be considered as a good president
As you can see all sites are located under domain .ru which is controlled by Russian government and all the sites work perfect - everyone can read them without any limitation. As long they are not closed, it's very stupid to argue about Russian democracy.
Furthermore, EuroNews channel is being retranslated by Russian free television. BBC and CNN are included in EVERY commercial package (starting prices are as low as $3-$5 a month so these packages are available for everyone).
P.S. And once again: there is no such a thing as absolutely democracy. Every country has it's own vision on democracy. The US democracy allows "this", Russian democracy allows "that" etc. In general everyone of us is being controlled by our governments. You are not kids, you have eyes and ears, so you should understand what I'm talking about.
