1024 is replacing 800 now.

Design for 800x600. If you don't, you'll make 10 to 14% of your members scroll horizontally. With large numbers, this is significant.

People WANT it it to be 1024, unfortunately until the 800x600ers are at 0%, it is worth it to focus on them. You could also do 2 versions and browser / resolution detect / redirect if it's really that big of an issue for you.

Based off this months stats: 1024x768 accounts for 45% of traffic, 1280x1024 is up to 33%

Don't most browsers compensate for the size by automatically reducing the image to fit the browser. Then you can hold the cursor over the screen and it turns into a magnifying glass, then you can click the pic to full size.

I'm at 978x1305 and some people say that's too small.
