Do any of you commute to work in ANOTHER COUNTRY?

Just curious whether anyone lives near a border and travels each day to and from another country. How practical is it?

I think for people in the US, this probably isn't likely. Most of the people (I hope) in this type of forum, have figured out how to make a living without leaving their computer. I go on vacation, and I work at starbucks, I am at home, I work on my computers. I don't go anywhere to work for another company. I don't think I am alone here.

I'd hazard a guess that a large portion of the GFY population does not make enough in this industry to match an average wage, therefore they must rely on extra work to get by. (Or take up sigwhoring full time)

FWIW... the minimum time to travel to another country from here would involve a few hours on an aircraft! Australia has no land based inter-country borders.

I dated this girl in college who her dad would commute from Canada to Michigan 3-4 times a week for his job

Well that makes sense, but I would HOPE that anyone partaking on this forum could figure out how to make money without commuting anywhere, much less another country.

The whole point of me being in this industry is not having to commute.

I used to work in Switzerland but live in France, right on the border, cost of living was 50% less in France and I wasn't earning the megabucks to make living in Switzerland cost affective because of lower taxes. But my commute to work was only 30 minutes and flashing my passport at the guy on the trian.

See, that's the sort of thing I'm talking about!

Apart from the prices did you notice any remarkable differences? Does the culture suddenly change as you cross the border?

A lot of people TRAVEL for work if there is another office some where. I have a friend who travels to NYC from Toronto every 3 weeks or so for 3-4 days....but to commute every day? Not likely.

Not really because 1/2 the people who lived there did the same as me, but go 20 miles further into France then yep.

I walk (45-60 minutes) from home to the office in -35Celcius (windchill -45).

Does that count?
