Your mindless, irrational patriotism is both pathetic and sad. :thumbsup

My patriotism is neither mindless or irrational...thank you very much. It is purposeful and with good reason...but to tell you the truth...you are free to think whatever you care to think...frankly Scarlette...I don't give a damn.

I've seen more of the world than you have and met mindless nationalists from every country. They always believe their country is the best and can always rattle off a list of reasons. You can't all be right now can you? :1orglaugh

The more you travel the more you realise that the spew that comes from the mouth of a nationalist is essentially meaningless dribble... "My country is the best because.."

The more nationalist morons you come across the more you realise the only way to finish that statement is "...I think so."

It's all relative dopey. Your country is the best in your opinion... and that's all it is - a worthless opinion from someone of no import. And to a nationalist in another country, their country is the best because they think so. There are no absolutes, just assholes with opinions. :1orglaugh

Well I've been to 29. I'm pretty certain that eclipses your travel experiences.

The funny thing about 'patriots' is that they think it's a good thing. What they can't or don't want to see is that they are patriotic because their mind surrendered itself to government propaganda and sucks it up as it is the absolute truth - once you reach that state, you are lost. They can't think for themselfs anymore.
A patriot is a weak mind, a pawn of the government. If someone would call me a patriot, I would be insulted.

You are not the sharpest knife in the drawer...now are you? I suggest that you review the definition of the word patriot and you will learn that the only connection that it has to government is the following taken from dictionary.com

1. a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.

2. a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, esp. of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federal government.

Sadly, that's not how the term is used in real life. Patriots are mindless sheep following the government. "loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion" says it all. Who makes up the interests of a country?

For those countries that practice various forms of democracy...it is the people that ultimately...decide what the interests of their country are to be. In the case of the USA the people have a representative form of democracy...from the city...county...state and to the federal level of government. At the federal level those that represent the interests of the people are elected every two...four...and six years. It is called government of the people...for the people...by the people. The primary representation of the people lies in the House and the House is where the direction of government and law is initiated and the House is where the people decide every two years who will represent them.

A perfect form of government...no...but it will have to do until someone comes up with a better form of government.
