U.S. Government porn crackdown coming soon? - GoFuckYourself.com

I was just reading the latest issue of AVN magazine. There is a big article by JD Obenberger about the coming porn crack down by the U.S. Government.

Some of you don't want to read this, or won't believe it, but trouble is on the way. He talks about the meetings Ash-cro-ft has been having, the people he has been hiring, and the quotes that Ash-cro-ft has been making about cracking down on porn in the near future.

This is not a small issue for people in the online adult industry. Ash-cro-ft believes that the Internet is the devil's work and he is going to try to clean it up. There are a number of quotes from this AG talking about internet porn leading to child abuse, and how Americans have a right to a "decent" society" and all this other scary right wing nonsense.

I encourage you to read the article and take this very seriously. The day that Bush got into office, everyone knew this was coming, and it's getting closer.

One specific thing I wanted to mention about his article is this:

It is very hard to convict people for obscenity. So, what the Feds (and local law enforcement) are expected to do, and that they have been doing to some degree already, is to bust people for child porn. The way they do this, is to confiscate all of your computers, and then to examine the hard drives for child porn. If you have visited any website with a single child porn picture, ever, then there is a good chance that the image is still somewhere on your hard drive. They can undelete just about anything on your hard drive.

They will take that one picture that some toplist banner maker popped in a console on your machine 4 months ago, and brand you as a child pornographer. You will then have to either plea bargain as a sex offender, or you will have to go to trial as a child pornographer. Most people will plea bargain and become registered sex offenders for the rest of their lives. Why? Not because they were involved in child pornography, but because the cops were able to dig up a long deleted file from your IE cache.

The strong advice here is to make sure you are using some sort of evidence elimintor / hard drive scrubber program daily on all of your machines. You cannot control what consoles pop up or what is in them. In fact, you can't even tell what images are on every page you visit unless you are looking while you're closing the pages as fast as you can. So, make sure that every day you clear your cache and use a program to write over the deleted space on your hard drive. Do it every day for every machine you own. Do not back up your hard drive without making sure that you have cleared all of your cache files and used a program to write over those deleted files.

This may sound like paranoia, but the day that you get a knock at your door from Ash-cro-ft's storm troopers, you will want to know that you don't have any unknown pictures on your drives.

I do recommend that you read the article, but also heed the warning about your browser cache. You do not want to be tagged as a child pornographer when you are actually running legal adult sites. The people running our government right now are religious nuts and they don't give a shit about the first amendment as it pertains to porn. In fact, Ash-cro-ft has said previously that he doesn't believe the first amendment applies to porn. He will do anything he can, legal or not, to try to send you to prison. Be prepared to fight.

It would make sense to me that even if your sites were hosted outside the US, you'd still be expected to abide by US laws considering pornography....you still live here and are still a US citizen...I guess you could denounce your citizenship and move away.

It's kind of like the old misconception...well, my sites are hosted outside the US, so I don't need to pay taxes on income earned from them...total bullshit.
It hurts real bad to write a check to the US treasury, but fuck, it's better than jail.

I guess you don't get it. It's not where you host that Mr. Fiction says could land you in jail or branded as a sex offender , it's what's on your computer in your home or office. So, if you want to be beyond the reach of US law, you need to move someplace more friendly and operate from there. To be REALLY safe though, you'd need to give up your US citizenship. And before you go that far, I believe that once you do that you are barred forever from returning.

But then there's enough of the rest of the world and enough who are more than willing to move away from the US to continue making good money(I wouldn't imagine that would require denouncing citizenship as you will be liable for the laws of the country you are currently in) that it would effect a shit load of people but wont really slow down porn on the Internet for more than a month or 3.

I get it perfectly and if you'd read my post properly you'd have seen I mentioned moving out of the US not just hosting elsewhere. The changing host would obviously only apply to those already living outside the USA but hosting in it. If even moving out of the USA means you have to abide by US laws then I guess you are fucked if you live in the US. Either way it's not gonna stop Internet porn just change the geography a little.

However, I'd be interested on the legality of running porn sites from a non-US country, hosted outside the US if you are a US citizen. If it is still in theory illegal I presume that also make going to Holland and smoking pot in Holland illegal which although I doubt anyone would prosecute is interesting nevertheless.
