This is the latest entry from my Adult Webmastering 101 blog that can be found in the resource section of the Max Cash affiliate area. All of these articles and tutorials are aimed and new webmasters.
=== Lately, I have been writing a good deal about learning to talk to your surfers. However, today I am going focus on the relationship you have with your sponsors. Part of my daily routine as an affiliate support worker involves communicating with affiliates with a wide range of experience. Without a doubt, I will say that my most successful affiliates are those that I have an open communication with and who aren't afraid to contact me when they need something. I have also found that a good number of the affiliates that signup and are new to adult webmastering appear to be afraid or nervous about talking directly to a sponsor. Often that has come from them thinking that their correspondence won't be welcome. However, the fact is that any good affiliate program will be happy to talk to you and help. There are a number of ways that speaking up and communicating with your sponsor can be of help to you. Many new webmasters won't know that frequently sponsor programs will be happy to assist with providing promo materials that you may need that aren't already available in their system. For example, with Max Cash, if you need a specific size banners you need but we don't have them we will usually be happy to get some made. After all, if you need that size chances are other webmasters will be able to use them too. It doesn't just stop at banners either. My most successful affiliate has a need for 100 word descriptions for the sites we offer. He didn't see them in our system and contacted me and I wrote them up for him and now whenever we have a new site I send him new descriptions. They have worked well but had he never contacted me and asked for the help I would never have known he needed them. Keeping an open line of communication with your sponsor can also help to prevent any headaches associated with trying new methods of promotion. I am often contacted by successful affiliates who are trying out a new promotion method and want me to take a look and make sure it is acceptable to our company. They will also contact me if they are writing some text to promote our sites and they just want to okay it with me to make sure there isn't anything misleading in their statements. It takes them a few minutes to contact me on email or icq and that saves them having to guess if something is okay or not. The vast majority of people that ask are usually told their text or methods are fine and it helps to nurture a good relationship between myself and the affiliate. Once you have built your traffic up and you feel you have more to barter with then the communication with your sponsor can also lead to bigger profits for you. You may have seen me on the boards lately asking if people wanted to do 'deals'. These 'deals' come in many forms but if you reach the point where you feel very confident that you can send a good number of signups a day to a program than it will very rarely hurt you to contact that sponsor and ask them if you can do a deal where you will get a higher payout rate if you consistently send a number of daily signups. If you don't ask, you don't get. So, as important as it is to learn how to talk to your surfer it is a good thing to also learn how to talk to your sponsor. |
