Q - How many religious nuts does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A - NONE! They prefer to live in the dark.

:2 cents: Use of "/sarcasm" or something similar could save you some grief... unless, of course, grief is what you're looking for.

That was sarcasm right? Even you aren't dumb enough to eliminate the crusades from your memory.

I think that more people should speak up about the Koran, provided they've taken the time to read the text themselves.

Until then, I do wish people would censor themselves... but I know that's just wishful thinking - the ignorant are usually only too happy to offer their opinions on a variety of subjects.

My personal take is that it's not a whole lot different than many religious texts... it can be understood as both a book of profound peace and as a book of violence... and I know that a good number of Muslims practice peacefully and in a tolerant manner.

it's the radicals that give the book a bad name.

Imho, anyone - of any faith or belief-system - that preaches intolerance should be put down.

Seriously you should read the koran.....there's nothing profound peaceful
in it.....There's this one passage where Muhammed talks about living side
by side with the jews in peace.....this was in the period Muhammed had
little to zero followers....the next passage adds that it's good to live in
peace with non believers till muslims are in the position to overthrow the
other group and forcefully convert them to islam....or be slaughtered :thumbsup

The so called peaceful verses you hear quoted on t.v. are either half verses
or verses pulled out of context......anyone who has picked up the Koran will
confirm this.

I have read it... but I do admit, that was a while ago... somewhere between my reading of Poe and Shakespeare's complete works... and I was a bit younger.

Maybe I'm due for a reread.

But my recollections leave me with the memory that it wasn't a whole lot more violent than the Torah (Old Testament).

It is....it's like an adventure diary of the warrior Muhammed.....but I agree
the bible isn't all that dandy either.....at least they tried harder to make
it more symbolic......yet the message remains the same. As a comedian
once said....if you don't believe and listen to god you're gonna burn eternally
in agonising pain.......but god loves you :thumbsup

Oh the movie hasn't even been released yet.....but some Muslim already
released his.......enjoy peaceful islamic prophecy in action

I agree and while he's at it he might also want to ban a similar and equally dangerous book. It's called The Holy Bible.

The sad thing is that people can make fun of the "holy" bible all they want, do it with the koran and you will be in deep shit.

I would say ban all religions :2 cents:
