    will flash 3.0 help prevent content from getting ripped to tube sites?

    or discourage, i guess. how does what they are saying work? any technical gurus around? is this the best solution, as the prevelance of tube sites is not going to slow down anytime soon. anything better around?


    Adobe Flash 3 supports Encrypted RTMP streaming, which helps prevent stream ripping software from copying the file to off line locations. Additional features include FMS 3, known as SWF hashing (verification) by which a signature of the SWF file is created and used by the FMS server to ensure that the stream can only be deployed within the signed SWF file. This form of stream protection is very difficult for any stream ripping software to penetrate.

              no. it prevents people from being able to right click save as to download flash movies at most

                  The point is I expect, and the way Im gonna deploy it is not to prevent anyone from stealing it, simply to make it as difficult as possible to do so.

                  The new Flash does that very well as far as I can tell plus it supports AVCHD which is REALLY sweet

                          Anything can be hacked, but as long as you make it more difficult for "average" users, the better it is...better than nothing at all anyways...

                                  ISP's are starting to put limits on bandwidth usage etc.

                                  So you're saying its better that the customer has to come to your site & download the 1gb video stream everytime he wants to watch the 40 minute clip?

                                      The protection isn't really for average users right? The people who do real damage are tube webmasters, release groups and p2p uploaders, or am I wrong?

                                          i guess the question was its effectiveness as a deterrent. There is no unstoppable car alarm, but they still prevent a million thefts a day.

                                          Its hard to protect Anything with absolute certainty, as there will eventually be some clever determined motherfucker that can figure a way into anything.

                                          But the question isn?t is it perfect, but will it work. How much will the clarity decrease if screen ripping software is used? Im sure it will by some degree, but I don?t know much about that stuff
