What country

If you were going to retire out of country (USA), to a country that wasn?t the total pits, and had a great exchange rate. What country would that be?
This question was mentioned in someone else?s thread, but I only got a couple of responses. If I recall one was Costa Rica and another was Nicaragua.

i think you would thus like Thailand. The people are Buddhists and generaly very peaceful and happy, the weather is wow, they actually were smart enough to preserve a lot of land for parks and recreation and its very cheap (you can stay in a guesthouse in many towns outside of Bangkok for $3/night and eat well for that amount per day as well).

I would retire in my home country Armenia, where everything is sooo cheap. For example taxi is like $2-3, dinner for two at a fancy restaraunt is about $6, so basically for $500 a month you could live like a king there

eru - can you speak japanese? it is tough to get aroundin english there... you need a translator.

sex is cheap sure, but the girls in the nuki kyaba are NOT good looking. And Japanese massage bar is NOT what you see in the movies - you can get an ugly old hag before you get a stunning ex actress. This is why my partner over there wont let me go to them... although, kyaba kura is cool if you get a girl who speaks some english.

and the twelve year recession really hasnt done much except make the japanese guys sleep in their suits in the train stations in between working two jobs. kinda sad. no beggars tho.

Canada at the time didnt NEED to get out from under the yoke of GB. GB kept us alive and supported us. In that day and age Canada was still nothing more then a bunch of fur trappers a few miners and loggers. The US was slightly more developed then Canada was at the time. PAL

Here is some shit I like about Canada off the top of my head.

almost no pollution.
if I get sick and go to the hospital, I dont die or take out a second mortgage.
people are mostly laid back and polite.
I am not worried about gettin car jacked, shot in the back, mugged or ass raped. Although, it seems some members of this board are quite worried about this type of shit. judgin by the freaky home security, in house armory and all.
I like making US$ and spending in CAD$

I lived in Osaka for two years and did just fine. You get a $70,000 tax break if you are an American which is great. I don't have a problem getting around in Japan because I speak the language, however, it is scarry if you don't. The sex is great and you get laid a lot. At least I did.
