What is bound to happen is eventually just like race, all languages will blend together into one. Or it will blend together into 2-3 remaining and war will kill the other languages.

I can see the argument for Chinese as lots of folks speak it but it does not do well typed or written. English is currently the worlds second language. I know labeling in 2 languages does not cost that much but it is wasteful so one world language would save tons of money etc. Then add in communication for trade etc and wow.

How nice would it be for the Pres to sit down with the pres of some country we are currently having an issue with and both speaking in their native tongues from birth work it out? Might have saved us Gulf War I and II.

It's amusing that the person calling for everyone to speak English is unable to capitalize sentences, form proper sentence structures or spell words properly.

Dutch rules. Why? We are unique in our style of cursing. While other languages use profanity (fuck, shit, dickhead, etc.) the dutch language distinguishes itself from other languages by cursing with diseases - the most used disease is 'cancer', its like 'fuck' is in the english language.
Here are some of the many dutch curse words translated to english:
"cancer whore"
"cancer sufferor"
"cancer mongoloid"
"get the cancer!"
In dutch it sounds way better.

Imaginae a worldwide language barrier being gone? imagine how much more cultures would understand eachother if we all fully understood eachothers message and things did not get lost in translation.

english is not the hardest language to learn, it's actually very easy. try learning chinese or some slavic languages, they're much harder than english.
