But before you sign up for a partnership program with them...they don't have one.
yeah, pretty sweet site.

Marketing (traffic), content, and design are all necessary elements.

And other factors play a part in the success - price (#1 possibly), customer support, name/reputation, billing company that doesn't suck, etc. (Frequency and quantity of Updates are part of the Content area.)

Overused not-good-quality content can still make some sales. For example, if the site is designed really nicely, and you have tons of SE traffic. (Some little free sites have NO actual content and earn a lot.)

Crappy blind traffic can still make some sales. For example, if you have content that really makes them curious, and the design makes them think your site/biz is a quality one. (Some webmasters make a bunch off exit hits.)

And dull simple design can still make some sales. For example, if you have HQ content that matches the surfer's like, and targetted hits. (A site could even have NO graphics at all, and do ok).

Of course, having just 2 (or 1) of the 3 elements can severly limit the sales.

They are interlinked.

Content has a huge role in retention, but also conversion (if they liked the samples and promise of what is inside), and traffic (the girl/guy in your banner should look enticing).

Design has a huge role in conversion, usually plays a part in getting the traffic (the banner is flashing and gets the clicks), and often retention (member graphics).

Marketing gets the traffic (volume of potential buyers), and has a part in conversion (if it is targetted traffic), and retention (if you deliver what you promise, and you can convince them to stay if you promise "more great stuff soon").

Graphics may play a big role in conversion, but when it comes to retention, graphics is about 99.9% irrelevant. Whizbang site graphics help form the initial impression, but if the content isn't there, is hard to find, or loads too slowly (has anyone mentioned this?), the customer will be gone, gone, gone, like a cool breeze.

It would be pretty hard to sell a site with no design....if thats where you want to go.

Anyway, you are obviously still learning so I wont reply to your nonsense anymore.

I said "it begins with the content and ends on the join page."

If you cannot grasp that I cannot help you.

So lets say: Design and content are equally as important.

Or will you refute that comment with another condescending stab based on opinion?

Ok, I can live with that.

good post dgdesigns, nice to see people talking about something productive on here :)

One thing I think more adult sites could use... Under-promise and over-deliver. Sell enough on your tour to get the sale, but don't mention every little thing you have. They've seen "50,000 photos/50,000 videos" so many times it means nothing anymore.

Make them curious enough to pull out their credit card and see what you've got. Then surprise them with features they haven't seen before. And of course make sure it's 100% on target for your audience.

its about design AND content......you need a good design to grab attention, then content to clinch the sale

i personally hate the 'regular' tours as they all look the same and say the same things.....

this is one of my sites:
http://www.sexy-babes.tv/tour1/

it sells very well because it shows what the surfer gets (well in fact only a portion of what they get)...this means they are not disappointed when they join, in fact happy because they get more than they expect!

initial sales are only half the game......more important is to keep the members!

Aza :)
