				 | Damn, the Vic-20 was also my first computer, and Blue Meanies from Outer Space was my first computer game. I remember before you could play it you had to type in an entire screen of code that you would copy word for word from the manual, and if you fucked up any part you would get the dreaded "Syntax Error, line so and so". Ahh, the memories...

				 | My uncle has been working with computers for over 40 years now. He did quite a bit in computer development back in the day, working with Honeywell. His work was classified so he was not able to discuss the details of his job with anyone other than he worked with computers. Even if he did I'm pretty sure that at that time no one would understand what he was talking about anyways. My aunt didn't even know what he did. He used to tell us that he did crossword puzzles all day. I remember him telling us about one of the first computers that he had worked on developing, it was massive and took up an entire room that had to be air conditioned because of the amount of heat it generated. The computer itself was basically a glorified calculator/typewriter, it really couldn't do very much. I remember being at his house as a kid and my cousin and I would hook the phone up to one of these types of modems and log-in to some computer that was at my uncles work that just had games on it. The funny thing is that the games were all text based and the monitor that we were using was green text on black screen...you really needed to have a good imagination when playing those games. How computers have advanced in a relativity short period of time is pretty crazy if you think about it. |

				 | I started with a ZX 81 :-) Than ZX Spectrum, than C64.. i ran a warez BBS on my C64, when you logged on you got an index of warez you wanted to download.. than i had to switch floppy discs with the requested warez loooolol.. But was fun though! later moved on to Amiga and ran a 9 nodes BBS called PleasureDome with Ami-express software.. man.. those were the days.. magic is all gone now..

				 | My husband bought a TRS-80 8K extended back in 1979 for $800 at Radio Shack. After we get together, we bought a Vic-20 in 1981 and then a used Commodore 64 in 1984. In 1985, we bought a Coleco Adam for $300.00 as it was just discontinued. The only reason was it had a real typewriter with a daisy wheel attached and he used it for his school papers. After that, it was the Atari 1040 ST in 1987. In 1989, we bought our first true PC, an IBM XT ;) We still have them all! Carol xoxoxo |
