Fight the there can be none whiter!

I tried it here and it shows NOT registered and available!

http://www.whois.net/dnr/index.php?d...eeze99&tld=com

Hmmmmmmm? Maybe there is a hidden cooperation going on.

FightThisPatent 01-09-2008 09:40 AM

I went to Network Solutions and put in:
thisdomainshouldbeavailable123.com

it was available, then tested by going to: http://www.whois.com/
and it was not available.. under one min!

I tried a previous test with random garbage letters and it didn't take. they may have a filter to only register domains with dictionary words.

Fight the sneaky sneaks!

Ok, it is a coincidence that whois.sc went down after I added the name to my shopping cart.

So, so far I cannot confirm that searching on the name alone will cause
NS to hold it. At least not a crappy name like the one I used.

i think they are running dictionary keywords through the lookup domain to only get those. i put in asdfaldsjflajdslfaja9sdfsd.com and it didn't take, but thisdomainshouldbeavailable123.com got snatched immediately.

Fuck! They grabbed this name

moneyfreetimenews.com

First I did a whois.sc and it was available.
Then I did a whois.net and it was available
Then I searched on NS and it was available
Then I went back to whois.sc and it was taken and registerd by NS
Then I went to whois.net and it was taken also.

Yep, all I did was search! I didn't add it to my shopping cart and I checked the shopping cart to see exactly what was there.

How long do they hold the name?

Bear 01-09-2008 09:56 AM

I just tried fuckyounetworksolutions.com on networksolutions.com, it was avaialbe when I search. But after 1 min, I do a search on whois.com :

Domain Name: www.fuckyounetworksolutions.com
Availability: No

Fuck you Network Solution!

sortie 01-09-2008 10:01 AM

50 stolen domains

they will hold it for 5 days and then toss it back into the pool.

the more interesting question is does network solutions pay the $0.25 ICANN fee for that tasting? If so, wouldn't take long for skript kiddies to load up NS LOL

No way do they pay it. The regular searches alone would cost a bundle and cost cutting corps would see these charges as somethign to get rid of.

Manowar 01-09-2008 10:13 AM

i just did, that's a lot of fun

Just got word that there is no ICANN fee for tasting.. the $0.20 (not $0.25) is a proposal to supposedly curb the domain tasting.

lots of chatter going on here:

Fight the bad taste in the mouth!

FightThisPatent 01-09-2008 10:27 AM

Yeah, the word is banned but URLs are not blocked based on words.

FlexxAeon 01-09-2008 11:08 AM

they have been doing this for YEARS.....i haven't used net sol in maybe 6-7 years once i realized what was going on

GreyWolf 01-09-2008 11:16 AM

Ahah... the crooks are at it again :winkwink:

This latest ploy may be new, but operating like scum is not unfamiliar to NS. The history and backroom antics there is just awesome - tho that's obviously a tiny fraction which is known about.

Couple of years back an LE agency friend was "playing games" with NS - purchasing domains, causing queries then asking questions etc etc. The feedback from that game was too damned funny - even to the level of sending clients to public call box numbers for "support" *lol*

It was more than obvious things were not as things supposed to be :)

DaddyHalbucks 01-09-2008 11:18 AM

This is why I only use Moniker.

Never had ANY problems at all.

:thumbsup

Finally there is something on which GreyWolf and I agree!!

NSI is a bunch of crooks.

The "shock" is that while some registries were suspected of doing such things, there was never any clear proof.

Network Solutions is quite brazzen as its easy to confirm now what they are doing.

Fight the open book!

A buddy called me the other day, he searched a name and boom right after the cock smokers at NetSol bought it.

How the hell can they get away with this?

i think baddog's point, is where is the proof that GoDaddy was doing such things?

Its like many suspect programs of shaving since 2000, but there is not as clear proof as there is with Network Solutions domain "protection" scheme.

Fight the magnifying glass!

Friends don't let friends use Network Solutions for domain lookups/purchases.

why would anyone want to pay such a high price at NS?????

Fight the virtual stick-up!

wow, so it happens right away? I knew registrars/whois places were doing stuff like this, but I always thought they wait a few days before registering the domain... wtf?

yes, happens in under a minute if the domain has dictionary keywords. Put in garbage and it doesn't register it.

Guess the domain scams and schemes are getting bolder.

After you "search" for a domain at NS, open it up in a browser in a few minutes.. they have it running as a parked page.

Fight the fast lane!

Rhesus 01-09-2008 12:04 PM

LOL @ you moniker fools. They've been selling domain tasting services for over a year.
