How many levels deep does this VISA shit go?

I've been thinking about this Visa shit all day and trying to see it from both sides, but I have to say, the more I think about it, the more it sucks.

First, isn't this the REASON we go through these 3rd party processors? To avoid paying these fees and filling out all these forms giving Visa all of our information? If I wanted to do all that, I would've gone out and got myself a merchant account and bypassed the processors in the first place. So, I have to ask, what the fuck am I paying the processor for again now?

Second, since I now have to give my information to Visa and pay these fucking *membership fees* or whatever they're calling it, why stop there? Why not have all the TGPs and freesites and gallery makers fill out all the fucking forms and pay the fees too? Have Visa approve those urls as well. Make sure they are established in the US as well. After all, they ARE selling the sites are they not?

Will Visa go this many levels deep or are they content with simply fucking over the site owners?

It's looking more and more like Visa and these processing companies are in bed together far more than we know.

Globill is, so far, the only company in my opinion making ANY sense here whatsoever. And I think I'll either switch to Globill or seek my own solution.

Thoughts?

Kyle has a point. Why should we go with a biller versus a merchant account, at this point. I'd like to hear a reason from someone not hugely affiliated with a biller, first. Call me crazy.

well, I don't know who Kyle is, but what I am wondering is why I should pay a third party processor for something they're not doing anymore. Isn't the whole idea to be able to get processing for your sites WITHOUT having to go through the process of getting approved for a merchant account? Since Visa has pretty much just eliminated that, I'm dying to know what it is that the processors are providing now, other than an overpriced stats interface.

Actually, the push is for everyone getting their own merchant account, period. There are a number of companies that are getting set up to be good front ends to this kind of service. By front ends, I mean they take the signup and make it happen, but they don't take the same kind of fees that the iBill's and ccBill's of the world do.

Ofcourse you have to handle all the rebills, cancellations, affilation payouts, tracking etc yourself..

For instance, NetBilling does processing for your own merchant account. I know WayPay is looking into this kind of business as well. There are more. They'll come to me in a minute....

I think the push has swayed to the "it's worth it" side now. The 3rd party processors fees are not even close to being justified anymore because of this.

Check it out, looks like visa has some serious problems. An interesting case to follow anyhow.
