I saw someone advocating this guy for president in someones sig. The guy is a total nutjob. It is amazing what people think is a good idea.

I can't say he's a nut, but he's a little off his rocker. He sounds good for about 10 mins, but if he talks longer than that you see how far out he really is.

Sure it sounds good to have smaller govt focused on our constitution. Sounds great in theory, yet lets look at what is wrong with this country now. It's lobbyist and politicians in their pockets.

Ok reality check, by doing away with govt agencies it would be big business whom would take control with less regulations. Does that really sound better for the people? Sure our govt is far from perfect but I'd rather have them in charge than KBR / Halliburton.

and there is like zero ideas on how we remake our entire govt. No IRS, no treasury, total free trade. I would like to give the total free trade idea a try but overall his ideas are just sound bites pretty much.

Well IMO we don't need to remake it but rather fix it. Three things we could do that would go a very long way at fixing things.

1) Term limits on all public elected offices.

2) No more lobbyists they should be illegal.

3) No more campaign donations or gifts from corporations or special interest groups and there should be a limit of $500 from a individual per candidate per year.

Take the money influence away and things will turn around.

There would still be corporate oversight from Dept of Justice. Take some of the workforce from the IRS and shift them into the INS and DoJ. The states will still have their regulatory agencies for corporate oversight.

I never said RP said any of those things. I don't support him because I see past him. The people whom support him typically hear sound bytes of what he says about standing up for the constitution and all that kinda stuff.

However they fail to see that the vacuum left by getting rid of govt agencies would then be filled by Big Business. That is exactly what this country does not need and would cause the down fall of this nation.

All you have to do is look to the way insurance companies work in regards to health insurance. Look how Haliburtian and KBR work. Do we really need more of that?

No we simply need a govt whom acts on behalf of the citizens of this country rather than on behalf of big business/special interest.

I never said you did, I was just throwing that out there. I also completely agree. People really do need to deeply look into what he is all about with open eyes and consider it's downsides. Not just parroting the same old ron paul freedom rhetoric over and over.

That is exactly what you would get with Ron Paul. Because this guy supports big business all the way. Even more of the same with less government controls put in place. Sounds great on paper but in practice it would mostly likely end in disaster.

Same here.. He sounds on target for the first 10 mins.. First time I heard him I liked him. Then I started hearing how he wanted to get rid of pretty much everything govt run and turn it over to the private sector.

Bush and co have done that pretty well. Look how bad it's hurt us in Iraq and hell just look at the VA hospitals. When they were govt run, they were among the best of the best. Cheney pushed to turn the VA's over to private corporations and they went to total shit.

The corporations profited meanwhile the soldiers whom served this nation received sub-par treatment.

While govt is the 500lbs gorilla on our back, it's much better than letting Big Business run it. As they don't ever have to answer to anyone.

The current Big Businesses don't work precisely because of big government involvement. When you have this massive federal bueracracy with so much money to spend, you get politicians rewarding their friends in big businesses with contracts for everything from healthcare, to energy to education.

The current system is far from a free market. Its big government and big business.

RP wants to kill the huge $$ going to the fed to stop the waste.

For example- energy. If we invest 100 billion in new energy research, what you get is a lot of money going to lobbyist's interests and politicians friends earmarked to districts. If you sit back and let the market work, you get companies like Tesla and that bubble car company (300+ MPG) that will solve the problem in order to make a buck.

Of course RP can't do all of that as pres. He has a long term vision for america and wants to get us on the track of a small federal government that is out of the lives of everyday americans and not policing the world. Sounds good to me.

Your completely missing the point of a free market.

Lobbyists have jobs because regulations are made by politicians which they can influence. Take that away and they lose control.

There's nothing wrong with competing regulations at state levels. Or consumer advocacy groups.
