Have you any ideas how I can speed up my site please?

I am getting a little worried by the slowness of one my sites at times, I dont know if its just me, but could you go on it and say how fast it responds and loads for you.

http://www.foxyreviews.com

Then if possible could you give me any ideas on how to speed it up? Should I remove the pictures or text or something, or should I get a new hosting package. I am not too sure, but I certianly do not like the speed the way it is.

Thanks in advance.

where do you host? Is it virtual account or dedicated server, how fast? How much ram, cpu?

some of those screen shots could be optimized more I'm sure, but it looks like its quite slow hosting, I'm guessing it's virtual? which comes with the territory really.

A 185k index file could have something to do with it. Doing a lot of the work on it via javascript could be another.
A faster host would help but not much. The page is just poorly done.

I don't think it's the site that slow things down. It's the server.

The biggest improvement would be to use efficient (and valid) CSS code instead of tables like you are using now.

The code for your site is just painfully inefficient and messy.

It's your host, even with or with out tables it should load faster.
Where on mars is the server located?

180kb html is too big

you might consider using mod gzip to compress html and that will make the page about ~40kb.

http://whatsmyip.org/mod_gzip_test/
Page Size: 185 K
Size if Gzipped: 44 K
Potential Savings: 76.22%

also finding a faster hosting would help out...

# This site is not using HTTP compression, otherwise called content encoding using gzip. Consider compressing your textual content (XHTML, JavaScript, etc.) with mod_gzip or similar products.

* CSS alternate stylesheets may be referenced in the HTML but are not actually downloaded until they are needed and are therefore not included in the total page size.
Analysis and Recommendations

* TOTAL_HTML - Congratulations, the total number of HTML files on this page (including the main HTML file) is 3 which most browsers can multithread. Minimizing HTTP requests is key for web site optimization.
* TOTAL_OBJECTS - Warning! The total number of objects on this page is 60 - consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your external objects. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.
* TOTAL_IMAGES - Warning! The total number of images on this page is 52 , consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your graphics. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.
* TOTAL_CSS - Congratulations, the total number of external CSS files on this page is 1 . Because external CSS files must be in the HEAD of your HTML document, they must load first before any BODY content displays. Although they are cached, CSS files slow down the initial display of your page.
* TOTAL_SIZE - Warning! The total size of this page is 840140 bytes, which will load in 156.98 seconds on a 56Kbps modem. Consider reducing total page size to less than 30K to achieve sub eight second response times on 56K connections. Pages over 100K exceed most attention thresholds at 56Kbps, even with feedback. Consider contacting us about our optimization services.
* TOTAL_SCRIPT - Caution. The total number of external script files on this page is 4 , consider reducing this to one or two. Combine, refine, and optimize your external script files. Ideally you should have one (or even embed scripts for high-traffic pages) on your pages.
* HTML_SIZE - Warning! The total size of this HTML page is 196040 bytes, which is over 100K! Consider optimizing your HTML and eliminating unnecessary content and features.
* IMAGES_SIZE - Warning! The total size of your images is 500192 bytes, which is over 30K. Consider optimizing your images for size, combining them, and replacing graphic rollovers with CSS.
* SCRIPT_SIZE - Warning! The total size of external your scripts is 30379 bytes, which is over 8K. Consider optimizing your scripts for size, combining them, and using compression where appropriate for any scripts placed in the HEAD of your documents.
* CSS_SIZE - Congratulations, the total size of your external CSS is 861 bytes, which is less than 4080 bytes. This will fit into three higher-speed TCP-IP packets.
* MULTIM_SIZE - Congratulations, the total size of all your external multimedia files is 0 bytes, which is less than 4K.

Thanks alot guys for your help. I am going to look in to several options and probably will upgrade the host to dedicated.
Right now, it is on webair virtual.

As for content on the page, is it worth getting it redesigned into properly formated css tables and such?

Homersimpson thanks for the link, except it says page not found when I input my site in it.

Thanks for all the help people.

Do you think dedicated will simply make it run faster then?

Definitely. But you may not need that. A VPS account could do. Or simply moving to a different host.

Some people sell virtual just to get the client to upgrade to dedicated ...
To say that upgrading to dedicated will necessarely speedup his site is just not true ( If I give him a low end Celeron, it wont be better ... ).

I host big virtual sites, but I do balance those customers/sites across a number of virtual servers . Those servers are then filled up with mainstream low-consumption sites for profitability . Those servers are powerfull to begin with.

One client has 3 big WP sites, spread across boxes for about 120.00 / month ... Oh my god, he could get a dedicated for that price ... isn't it awfull ... he is getting screwed ....

He isn't stupid and isn't getting screwed. If he would put all his sites on one dedicated, he would need a top of the line server with a 10 mbps connection.... ( now, he has access to 3 different 10 mbps ports ... )

A VPS will only garantee you of certain ressources , so your overusage will not penalize the other VPS on that server ....

Some host are reputable for dedicated but not for virtual ....

Unless this site is making you some good income, a dedicated server would be a gamble. Don't listen to the "it has to be golden!" GFY retards who can only have the best.

Dedicated is nice but there's a reason virtual hosting exists. Use it until you outgrow it financially.

There are a lot of areas to improve that will help the site speed that you should try first before sinking in a lot more money.

The JS is slowing stuff quite a lot. Pages that do not include the big arrays load fast.
