Which processors allow this?

Advertised 3 day trial. On day 2.5 when you can cancel, you are told you had to cancel in the first 48 hours and that you will be rebilled.

Seems misleading to me, but what do I know?

Anyways, which of the processors out there allow this type of trial arrangement?

he means unlimited access to the site for 3 days, but trial must be cancelled with in 48 hours

seems like an invite for chargebacks tho

Right. That what's I guess it means, but that's pretty misleading if you ask me. I would assume the chargebacks are pretty high, especially considering that you have to cancel 7 days before the end of a 30 day subscription or you get rebilled again.

Just wondering who allows this.

only allow cancellation via email, this way you could justify a 24hr bumper to cancel the account

There are. ARS sites actually.

Ever wonder how such shitty paysites can afford to payout $35 per sale? Misleading bs like this. Interesting.

You can cancel via web page. Enter the two pieces of info and get a screen telling you you were supposed to cancel with 48 hours, this is hour 49 and you're going to be rebilled $39.99.

*shakes head* And people wonder why outsiders feel the need to regulate us.

Yes, they would have to be pretty stupid if they used such deceptive marketing tricks with their own merchant account

I guess, if the 3rd party processor gets to know about these practices, that paysite will be in big trouble as well.

Disclosure. Disclosure. Disclosure.

No one in their right mind would even consider this model. If anything, the cancellation window should be a bit longer, rather that shorter than what the terms and conditions state.

3 days means 3 days. 30 minutes means 30 minutes. Decpetive practices means you may find yourself out of business and with less freedom than you've ever had, or at least a lot less wealthy than you've been before should you find your self in front of a judge.

It never ceases to amaze me how seldom the weird strange oddball strategy of creating a site people might actually WANT to join and remain members of is discussed here.

Hmm... 30 Second trial.... Only $4.95. You must cancel within the first 10 seconds, or you will be rebilled $19.99 every thirty seconds thereafter until you can manage to cancel on the 61st rebill of the day. Each day begins at exactly 12:01AM PST.

heh, when you guys see my ingenious<sp*?> billing method, you will all think pimpdog is a hero....

Its all 100% legal, its not tricky, its garunteed to retain members atleast 10% longer than average.. and still maintain a 1% or less chargeback ratio or better. and rebill at 40 a month.

it's BS like that and all the cross sells that stop many on line porn buyers from buying again!

i have talked to many friends that this has happened and they have been billed more than the 2.95 "trial" or whatever.

just fucking makes it harder for all of us in the long run....

yep... uh huh.....

I'd bet 3rd party processors will allow this - - as long as your terms and conditions are clear - -

I think the one week free shit that some sites do suck. they say Get a whole week of access for free, and it says it will monthly rebill for 30 bucks or whatever.

so you put in the credit card number - kind of thinking that you get the first week for FREE as a trial - - and if you don't cancel it - - then you'll be billed for the monthly membership - - when in reality -- you get billed the minute you run the card, the initial purchase is period for 37 days - and then it rebills monthly after that.

kind of shady - - but as long it is explained somewhere on the page - - at least one 3rd party processor i have talked to said -- they will NOT refund a customers money in that case - - unless they think the customer is going to hit up the Bank for a chargeback

Yea. That's how I find this out. I was pretty amazed that ibill let's ARS pull this kind of crap.

They can't payout all the web900 money, but if you're a big client you can screw people and practice deceptive marketing. Interesting.

I was talking to someone about this very idea a few weeks ago. We're both amazed that so few sponsors have this basic concept in mind. It kinda sucks.

It seems it more a matter of churning as many surfers through as possible and hoping some of them forget to cancel or get tricked into paying for shit instead of just producing a good site and having people *want* to stay.
