    Dakar Rally cancelled.....first time in its 30 year history

          The Dakar Rally is the toughest Rally on earth.....cars, bikes, trucks race from Lissabon through Africa
          to the final destination in Dakar.....it's the mother of all challenges I guess


          It was cancelled because of terrorist threats in Mauritania there were 9 stages
          in the Dakar Rally through Mauritania....it's not important to us.....except that
          there's people who like the Dakar Rally, me being 1 of them.......

          And I guess it's a bad thing whenever terrorist get their way

              dunno why they couldn't just cancel the mauritania step - in the past, stages have been cancelled without affected the overall race

                                                                      This is not a state sponsored event like the Olympics. There is no army to ensure things go smoothly.

                                                                      If local authorities can't ensure the safety of participants and staff the Dakar organizers have no option but to cancel.
