Some really great stuff posted here, if you mean an album you can play 10 times in a row from the start to an end.
Through the eyes of a nostalgy I remember before I turned 16 or so I could listen for ages in the past to the:
No Prayer for the Dying and Seventh Son of a Seventh son from IM
Black album from Metallica
Apetite from Guns n Roses (most killing album of the 80's for me)
Pearl Jam - Ten
then what hasn't been mentioned before:
Soundgarden - Superunknown:
RHCHP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic (best single set of bass lines album I own)
Alice in Chains - Dirt (1992)
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (1968 - this is the banned version btw. )
Then most of the Black Sabbath stuff with Ozzy (everything from "Black Sabbath" till "Sabotage")
Siamese Dream -- Smashing Pumpkins
g n r -appetite for destruction
pink floyd dark side of the moon
stone temple pilots - core
Blood Sugar Sex Magic - The Red Hot Chili Peppers
common -be
beastie boys - pauls boutique
nirvana - nevermind
snoop dog - doggystyle

Yeah, that's back when ugly people made the music. Well...I guess they still do, we just don't get to see them all that much.
This is still the best record ever. Even John Lennon thought so.
It is all fun and ironically driven. I actually should have named my thread more like the "weirdest creations in the musical history " or something.
It's no disrespect to the Beach Boys or any other REAL band that was posted there, yet sometimes, the fashion was just a little bit too much off the hook...
I am otherwise a serious fan of the pre-douchebag era in the showbiz that really ended around 1995 with the raise of the all boy and all girls and all the other easy listening music with tight focus on kids / teens / after the lobotomy listeners.
It seems that someone want's to LEARN kids to WATCH and PERCEPT all their superficial douchebag shit to build the position to feed them and make them pay for it for years and ages (and they have always something more "advanced" in hand once someone would want to "develop" their taste).
It's almost like they have something for everyone now but it always have to be faceless dummies performing what's INEVITABLY GOING TO BE in vogue - douchebag rockers, douchebag rappers, douchebag punkers, douchebag solo artists etc.

You still get real bands these days, they are just rarer and you have to dig deeper.

No Doubt just you will probably NEVER EVER see a good "new" band on TV or in radio again..
The good old bands are still there because they have had their time and they have their listeners, but nowadays very few listenable new bands will ever get the chance to reach its listeners.
It's still possible though, ain't easy but if you tour intensively you should be able to get a notable following..

There's no way there will NEVER EVER be a good band to start again. There are still creative people in the world as well as gifted musicians, so to say that all that will ever come out again is shit is more of a negative opinion on the current state of music. Agreed, there hasn't been much, but that doesn't mean a new band can't get together tomorrow and come out with some great music.

Don't be so negative, have some hope dude.
I haven't stated that there aren't, I more like mentioned they won't make it to the radio or TV, at least in the way we know them.
As I mentioned here already - my mates won a national rock band contest - like a Marlboro rock in or something - they topped 760 other signed bands and they were VERY original and had some great playin skills.
Once they received the contract from SONY entertainment - it was the worst piece of shit I ever seen:
- had to agree to produce 5 albums in 5 years
- they had to obey any creative ideas about the way their videos will look like / not to agree menas termination of the contract
- they had to agree with the way their music will look like / not to agree or change anything means termination of the contract
- they have to play ANYWHERE they are sent by the management.. (means any TV piece of shit show etc.)
- they had to agree with about 10 cents from each record sold (seriously)
So they would become another super pseeudo boring mainstream band suited for people without any taste in music, they declined to sign and play in clubs and tour on their own eversince..

Reason: spelling
Amen to that.
I would also like to add
ANY Offspring or Puddle of Mudd. Either of those bands/albums you can just hit play and know your going to hear some great music.

It's not like that here and the system is different but that sucks if new bands cant get on the radio in the ol US.
But hey does that matter? All the best bands are from the UK anyway! (apart from a few)
Brings back some great memories, "King for a day, fool for a lifetime" was another killer yet my all time most killing song from Faith comes from the pre-Patton era:
WE CARE A LOT!
Anytime I hear that I am behaving like beeing 17 again
thank you corvette - two true benchmarks right there.
I'd also add
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street
The Doors - LA Woman
ACDC - If You Want Blood You've Got It
plus about a hundred others I cane all day every day....great thread

Exile On Main Street is often mentioned as the Stones' best album, but my fave is the album they released before Exile: Sticky Fingers... with the Andy Warhol cover.
