Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning "without", and gnosticism or gnosis, meaning "knowledge") is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims?particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality?is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience.

Yep, saying that god does not exist is just as much an unprovable claim as saying that god does exist. Atheists are no better than believers in saying that their way is right or that it is the only way.

I'm agnostic, and to me that means I have leeway to believe there *may* be some higher power, not just debunking deity-thinking alltogether ( =atheism).

I have kind of a personal idea of what "my" deity is, which *I* find rational (I'm sure it's shared with a few scientists as well).
*Freedom* of belief... nothing I'm pushing onto others. That's where I think many religious people are wrong, they can't stop pushing their religion.

Everything in the bible is a big lie, how can someone actully believe any of that? God created the heaven and earth in 6 days? Yes ofcourse, what does christian people believe in? That god has some supercomputer with some kind of software that is similiar to simcity?

actually we're just a giant experiment initiated by white mice. and the answer is 42

The God Delusion is overrated, its good up until about half way then it starts to drag. Dawkins is great but alot of what he says is obvious. A better book is "God Is Not Great" by Cristopher Hitchens.

hahaha.... that an evil galactic ruler 75,000,000 years ago, killed billions of beings by freezing them, flying them to earth in spaceships that looked exactly like DC-8's and then dumped them into volcanos in Hawaii (which didn't exist 75,000,000 years ago), collected their souls as they rose out of the volcanos, took them to reprogramming facilities to brainwash them, then released them.... letthing them just fly around the earth until man came along and they could attach themselves to people causing all the negative feelings people feel is real?

but that all makes sense because a shitty science fiction author said so... but Muhamad was a liar?

really?

Some say that the downfall of human civilization is going to come from religion. I believe that the downfall of civilization is going to come from those who feel the need to belittle and ridicule the beliefs of others.

I know I'm wasting my words on many here, but no matter, a few will get it --- Whether you're an extreme fundamentalist Christian looking down your nose at athiests and taking it upon yourself to judge them "evil" and sentence them to eternal hell, or you're an athiest who can't resist the urge to come on a message board and arbitrarily proclaim that God doesn't exist and that your way is the only way to think... both are equal in narrowmindedness, both are on the wrong path and BOTH groups are going to continue to butt heads until one day world war III erupts. No doubt they will be at the root of it.

Believe what you want, but why the need to be such assholes about it to others who don't share your belief? (or lack thereof)

If you are that desparate to have more people come over to your way of thinking why not try leading by example rather than ridicule? Just a thought.

It's cool to not believe in god these days. Think about this for a moment. As much as some of you believe there is no god there are others that believe just as strongly there is a god. Put me in the camp as I do not know. And just before I die, I definately will be praying to jesus, mohammed, fucking mickey mouse just in case. I have my doubts but what's it really gonna hurt?
