hd space or lack of with hosts?

Tell me something, since hard drives are almost dirt cheap these days, why are hosts offering a whopping 100-200 megs of disk space and trying to make you believe this is a good deal? It also pisses me off when basic/medium sized plans only have 1-2 email accounts. Always wonderded what the logic was behind this line of thinking...

Not a clue man.

Who cares how many email addresses you have setup? As a host, I dont care. I care about you having 400mb of email in every account tho...

and as for disk space... ata drives are dirt cheap nowadays - good quality scsi drives are still rather expensive. although, most hosts should be offering like half a gb now I'd think. I mean, how many sites do they wanna cram on one server?

Heh, well I always download all my mail with Outlook anyhow, and I make sure to leave it running all day, so I don't clog up the server. Your right though, alot of people abuse email accounts.

Obviously it's to get more money but man, especially if your an adult webmaster, 200 megs of space is nothing.

I am confused. How could Outlook help you in not clogging your server.

Not all hosts are like that. It depends on what type of plan you are paying for as to how much storage you will get. Most hosts will give you all the storage you need as long as you are using some bandwidth, and you pay your bills?..
