This is true, except Chuck showed signs of decline yet again, after the Rampage fight, in the Jardine fight. You'd have thought Chuck would want to redeem that embarrassment to Jackson in this next fight, but Jardine downed him with a shot, then threw Chuck out of rythm the rest of the fight with leg kicks and limiting his angles. Cut off the octagon and limit his angles like Rampage and Jardine did, and Chuck gets impatient and tends to make mistakes coming forward. Call it fighting like shit, but it just may be that good standup fighters have the answer to his counterpunching, unorthodox style.

I think there are more chances of the fight ending with a Lidell eyepoke then a DQ.
Wand is a pro and he's taken almost 1 year off too train for the UFC.Originally posted by rayadp05I rebooted, deleted temp files, history, cookies and everything...still cannot view the news clip. All I see is that fucking gay ass music video from "Rick Roll". Anyone else have a different link to the news clip?Comment

Silva. However, I may get surprised. Stepping out of Pride and going into the Octagon could be difficult. Why? Pride was way more wild and entertaining. You could be brutal in that shit. UFC is extremely pussy. I'm hoping Silva wins, and I know he can kick Chuck's ass easy. Wish they were fighting in a Pride ring instead, tho.Comment

wtf are you rambling about? lol. this is a fight mma fans from both sides of the ufc/pride divide have been itching for for ages. and it is going to be a good show.
i don't see how you figure this fight holds no meaning. the way i see it is that if chuck loses this fight, it's pretty much the final nail in his coffin. he might have another fight or two lef tin him after that, maybe. but if he loses this fight, i'm sure retirement will start crossing his mind as he realizes the glory days are over, and thats he's lost in a sea of talented fights in a more competitive division now. wanderlei wins the fight, he comes into the ufc with a bang, takes down a longtime fan favorite and makes his ufc debut establishing himself a name to a whole new mma fanbase...
chuck wins the fight, and its another notch for the ufc fanboys to put up. crocop goes down, rua goes down, silva goes down. ufc fanboys who jumped on with TUF cream their pants again and laugh int he face of the pride fans who've been telling them pride is superior for years. chuck also proves by taking down a big name in the game that maybe he's not a total washup. might give him some momentum in getting his career back on track and taking another run at the belt.
either way UFC makes a shitheap of money...
i think this fight is way more interesting than hughes vs gsp

i loved the fights in the ring, but thats not gonna happen. ufc is octagon. the one pride rule i wish ufc would adopt though is the extended first round.Silva. However, I may get surprised. stillll i stick to what i said. Shitty fight with no meaning. Chucky boy got a win but sooo fucking what. Where's he gonna go from here? The drunk rednecks are doing their dance now im sure but other than that its meaningless. The only thing chuck lovers can say is "He's back blah blah blah blah blah hes back blah blah blah" No hes not. He's still a fucking loser. Silva hasnt been silva since 2003-2004. Has this fight happened then, it would have been totally different and a chuck win would have had meaning. Silva isnt getting the training he needs. All this mumbo jumbo exotic training shit is pointless and he ALWAYS overtrains and fails. Silva fell apart right along with chute box. He's kinda like tyson when cuss damato kicked the bucket. You leave your original camp who made you what you are and things are usually never the same for most people. training with randy is not like training with chute box/peley

As you saw, silva is a muay thai BEAST who didnt throw 1 fucking knee and boxed the entire match. he went out there like he didnt know what the fuck to do. He wouldnt even fight.

He looked great. Great fight plan and the take downs were very productive. He hangs that chin out there too much for my liking but hes a brawler. Awesome fight and i would love to see lidell fight Griffen. No doubt one may quote history to support any cause, as the devil quotes scripture.

Well, so much for Silva winning by KO. Glad I didn't take any bets on it. Good fight, but Silva looked very uncomfortable most of the fight, and Chuck seemed like he was scared a few times during the course of the fight of being KO'd. Those takedowns he did were mostly for points, not like he wanted to actually do anything from the ground.

I'm shocked Silva didn't even throw any leg kicks in light of the success Jardine had against Liddell with those. As I said, he looked real uncomfortable, even when they were just circling each other.

hell yea. he almost seemed like he didnt know what he was doing. a lot of people say the ring to cage is a hard adjustment to make. maybe that had something to do with it but im no fighter so i wouldnt have a clue what difference it makes. i wish this shit would have happened back in silvas beasting days with chute box/pele. for people who have never seen him fight before, this sure leaves a horrible first impression.

I don't even know where he goes from here in the LHW division now. The UFC basically threw him into the octagon knowing it would be a big payday, without giving him so much as one "warmup" fight before Liddell. We might see him take a page from Henderson's book and drop to Middleweight, because there's nowhere for him to go now at LHW. Not after the huge hype this fight got, and the fact he lost to arguably the most popular fighter in the UFC.hell yea. he almost seemed like he didnt know what he was doing. a lot of people say the ring to cage is a hard adjustment to make. maybe that had something to do with it but im no fighter so i wouldnt have a clue what difference it makes. i wish this shit would have happened back in silvas beasting days with chute box/pele. for people who have never seen him fight before, this sure leaves a horrible first impression.

What's amazing is that some of the clowns over on Sherdog are actually calling this one of the best fights in MMA history. They must have been watching a different fight. What I saw was Chuck Liddell fighting his style of fight (with the exception of a couple points-only takedowns), and Wandy looking bewildered by the octagon, and doing nothing but counterpunch a counterpuncher. Good action in spots, but definitely strange gameplan on Silva's part.
Wandy had several opportunities to land knees, and leg kicks were there all day, but he just never put them to use.

I was bewildered at the fact that Wandy did nothing. Landed some good shots but never closed and clinched. Unbelievable. Good for Chuck, good game plan and made it his fight. The takedowns were really unexpected to me!Sonarcash Competitive Content Shooting

I thought when Chuck went down (they called it a slip, but looked like it was from a punch to me), Wandy would have pounced with some stomps to the body (allowed in UFC), but instead he just let him get back up. Good sportsmanship I suppose, but unusual for the guy known as "The Axe Murderer".

That was a great fight. I expected a little more from Wanderlei, but it was his first fight back in the octagon, a huge one at that. I'm sure next fight he'll be ready. Congrats to Chuck, he fought smart, even did a couple takedowns for points.Comment
