kinda sad, but whatever. i guess the piracy sector is also considered. "WHERE THE INDUSTRY MEETS"

we will not divulge anything publicly that is going on behind the scenes, but i will tell you BIG things are happening, and you know i don't bullshit. i may fuck off and play stupid games while i am promoting something, but with serious things people know i don't fuck around.

be patient, this stuff takes time.

He doesn't care he's even said he makes very little money from the industry (if anything.) I don't buy the he is doing this because he thinks it will help force things to get cleaned up either. If he cared about cleaning up the industry he would be putting the spot light on Torrent sites or spyware.

So the only thing I can gather is that he is either doing this out of being pissed off and this is his revenge to John and others who keep knocking him and/or it is part of his plan to help his case against John better some type of way.

interesting read thank you Will
IMO all that shit started with paid PA at big TGP some years ago.. those tgp are now loaded with FHG and good webmaster doing hand made gallery are mostly all gone because it was becoming too expensive to post gallery and the breaking point becoming unreachable for some gallery poster and those poster are gone today (yeah i know the more you spent money the more you should do money but the rules have change and the conversion ratio is not the same)

What we speak about here is something like Trade Unions in the adult online industry (let's hope without Jimmy Hoffa :))

We tried that about 8 years ago. It was called the United Adult Sites (uas.org at the time). You couldn't get people together on anything for long and only then was it the biggest companies when a real big issue threatened their well being. Also those guys put in the money that went into helping all the little guys and scammers and they got tired of doing that.

At the end of the day it's like "Freakonomics" says and it's all based on human incentive and motive. People are driven by the desire to make money, that's why they are here. That desire when weighed against what is considered unethical is on a different scale for each person but you have to figure that Internet culture is so based on free everything that the side of the scale with self policed ethics is going to be light. The only other thing that can be added to that side of the scale is the fear factor of negative consequences which is barely enforceable so it remains light as well.

Now it seems like the bigger companies, more often than not, are the ones that are dirty. And they can sustain some loses to stuff like content theft and spyware where the med - small companies may be run out of business. Which works even better for the bigger companies as they get more market share.

It would definetly be easier if a couple big companies led the way in setting up something like this, but that is even more unlikely to happen these days.

Not every "big company" pulls selfish shit though. i seem to remember a handful of guys bucking up hundreds of thousands to fight against the old CDA shit which would have made free porn illegal in the U.S. and wherever else would cross-comply. The proposed legislation was going to require age verification (most likely via credit card primarily) to see ANY porn. People bucked up to fight against it as an assault on the first amendment and something that would be a technological problem. But imagine if it did pass how much better pay sites would do?

I didn't say every big site is dirty and I knew there is a good amount that isn't. However this is a decent amount that is. So with less big companies out there that want to do the right thing it only makes it harder for us to get something going.

Also the example you gave is something that affected all porn sites so I can see why/how they managed to get together on that issue, just like Acacia or .xxx. Its had to fight "adware" companies when a lot of big sites are using them for traffic, just the same as content theft when the big sites are either profiting off of traffic from those sites or actually own the site themselves.

hickup...

Paul Markham 02-03-2008 05:19 AM

Until billing companies make a stand little will happen. The law will never cover it and we will never band together to fight it effectively. :(
